Job SummaryReporting to theAutomation (Controls) Engineerrole involves maintaining and improving automation equipment, tooling and applications as required to meet specifications.
What a typical day looks like:
- Controls support of complex automated manufacturing lines.
- Individual will be onsite expert on controls systems/hardware. Must strive to solve the problem, or communicate with machine OEM to provide resolution to controls related issues.
- Mentor Junior Engineers and Technicians on Electrical/Hardware troubleshooting.
- Establish technical manuals, redline drawings, create or edit trainingdocumentation/troubleshootingguides for automated cells and devices.
- Understand the machine operating principle, consequence of wear and tear parts and product defects in relation to the machines electro-mechanical components. (Eg. servo motors, linear motors, air cylinders, etc.)
- Ensure the uptime of machines by responding to critical escalation request for Controls support for root cause analysis of machine stoppage. If required, follow-on continuous improvement project to provide a solution through a code edit/alarm logic improvement, or vendorcommunication/solutionabout premature component failure.
- Occasionally integrate new controls devices.
- Should be willing to learn & grow controls skillset.
- Should prepare why-why analysis & drive for permanent corrective actions.
- Should be able to give feedback to improve the design of process and equipment.
- Coordinates project activities with other functional groups such asengineering, operations,and quality to ensure the efficient execution of continuous improvements.
- Collaborates and offers input to planning, building, and maintaining the Automation framework and associated processes for new products.
The experience we’re looking to add to our team:
- Requires an Bachelor’s degree, military training, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years’ experience in a similar role.
- Allen Bradley Studio 5000, FactoryTalk ME or SE, Siemens PLC programming experience.
- Safety PLCs, and safety circuits a must.
- Motion control experience preferred.
- FDA regulated manufacturing experience (Preferred).
- OT Network experience. E.g. Ethernet, IOLink, Asi, DeviceNet, etc.
- Must have electrical/hardware troubleshooting and design experience with 480V(3phase), and 24V(Control voltage) circuits.
- Strong communication skills required.
