DESCRIPTION

The test engineer is responsible for the creation of test programs, plans and methods for subsystem verification tests and complete system verification and validation tests to support new technology and product development programs.
The hardware test engineer will work with hardware development engineers, technical operations (manufacturing engineering), and solutions engineering to define, execute and report on verification and validation tests.Key job responsibilities
- Perform hands-on root cause analysis (RCA) and in-depth failure characterizations using advanced analytical tools. In addition, you will be recommending corrective actions and conveying results to the multi-functional team as well as upper management- Your expertise in materials science, mechanical, and polymer mechanics will be essential in identifying root causes and driving corrective actions to enable key product features, performance, and reliability- Evaluate and introduce new equipment and techniques to the failure analysis flow- Validate and verify supplier and vendor FA
- Maintain RCA repository database, develop failure analysis SOPs and troubleshooting procedures/guidelines
- Participate in process improvement initiatives
- Help manage and train Failure Analysis Engineers and Technicians daily task and projects
- Lab organization and detailed documentation leading to effective FA reportsA day in the life

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Masters or PHD in materials science or Metallurgical Engineering
- 5 years of proven experience in a FA
- Prior experience in a FA role using FA laboratory equipment, such as: optical digital microscopes, probes, and X-ray systems.
- Metallurgy knowledge (i.e. heat treatment, grain size, micro/macrostructure, case depth, microhardness, Rockwell hardness)
- Understanding of the failures in sensors used in robotic automation at the material and system level.
- Experience with and knowledge of a broad array of metals (carbon steel, alloy steel, stainless steel, copper alloys, aluminum alloys, etc.), polymers, electronic packaging
