RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Contribute to mainframe server capacity planning, configurations, and efficient usage of resources.

• Develop and maintain mainframe server strategy.

• Maintain capacity forecasts for IBM hardware and software.

• Analyze monthly server demand usage and present a formal monthly mainframe server capacity health check review.

• Perform in-depth data analysis using Resource Measurement Facility (RMF) and System Management Facility (SMF) data.

• Track usage and forecast On/Off Capacity on Demand (OOCoD).

• Use mathematical, statistical, and analytical skills to track mainframe utilization and forecast future capacity requirements.

• Simulate moving LPARS to different mainframes and determine the impact using Splunk.

• Produce mainframe usage reports from SMF/RMF data using Splunk or SAS.

• Forecast mainframe capacity requirements using advanced mathematical techniques.

• Analyze monthly server demand consumption and present a formal monthly mainframe server capacity health check review identifying any risks to the business.

• Produce mainframe business continuity simulations taking into account the different type of processors and drawer capacity of the mainframes.

• Remote work may be permitted within a commutable distance from the worksite.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering (any), Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems or related; and

• 2 years of experience in the job offered or a related IT occupation.

• Must include 2 years of experience in each of the following:

• Simulating moving LPARS to different mainframes and determine the impact using Splunk;

• Producing mainframe usage reports from SMF/RMF data using Splunk or SAS;

• Forecasting mainframe capacity requirements using advanced mathematical techniques;

• Analyzing monthly server demand consumption and presenting a formal monthly mainframe server capacity health check review identifying any risks to the business; and,

• Producing mainframe business continuity simulations taking into account the different type of processors and drawer capacity of the mainframes.
