Your key responsibilities
It’s fair to say there’s no average day for a Credits and Incentives Tax Senior – so you’re likely to spend your time on a diverse array of projects, responsibilities and tasks. Whatever you’re working on, our clients will turn to you for up-to-the-minute location, incentives and tax advice upon which they can always rely. To make that happen, you’ll be working in a highly collaborative culture, where listening to and sharing information with colleagues is an essential part of the role in advising external clients relating to economic development grants, tax credits and incentives.
Skills and attributes for success
- Analyzing an evolving portfolio of complex business operations to provide meaningful insights into statutory and discretionary incentives which are key to location investment decisions
- Identifying potential opportunities and risks and communicating these to our clients
- Learning and researching current market trends, to maintain your credibility as a trusted advisor
- Developing clear, intelligent plans and approaches to improve our clients’ tax activities
- Researching our clients business operations and building long-lasting relationships to tailor your advice to their specific needs
- Managing project processes, such as opportunity scoping, drafting Statements of Work, reporting on project status and next steps, and initiating client billing
- Delivering final client deliverables such as incentives analyses and documentation, incentives applications, and credits and incentives compliance documentation
- Supervising a motivated team of professionals, guaranteeing they have the skills, knowledge and opportunities to reach their full potential
To qualify for the role you must have
- A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related discipline
- Professional knowledge in a broad range of state and local Credits and Incentives tax processes, concepts and tools
- A proven record of excellence in a professional services or tax organization and will consider prior experience in state or local government and economic development organizations
- Technical writing and research experience in a tax context
- The ability to prioritize when working on multiple complex projects
- Strong influencing skills, and the confidence to question existing processes
- Willingness to travel as needed, and working in a balanced hybrid environment
Ideally, you’ll also have
- An achieved or partially achieved CPA qualification, certification as a member of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation or possess the ability to sit for or be a member of a state bar

What we offer
We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package where you’ll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to the business. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $80,900 to $133,700. The salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $97,100 to $152,000. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography. In addition, our Total Rewards package includes medical and dental coverage, pension and 401(k) plans, and a wide range of paid time off options. Our expectation is for most people in external, client serving roles to work together in person 40-60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year. Under our flexible vacation policy, you’ll decide how much vacation time you need based on your own personal circumstances.
