The Role
As a Global Investment Strategist, you will be responsible for helping to develop the strategy narrative, deliver market insights to investors, and engage with business priorities for. You will not only have prior experience in macro research as an economist or strategist, but must also be an outstanding writer and presenter, and able to both educate and entertain a range of client and advisor types.
Job Responsibilities
- Deliver our cross-asset class investment views, via client presentations, publications or product-oriented marketing programs.
- Work closely with Wealth Management’s senior leadership, Investment Specialists, Capital Markets Solutions (CMS) and Managed Solutions & Strategies personnel to develop topical and relevant materials for presentation to clients and prospects.
- Support the marketing and servicing of discretionary and capital markets products for clients and prospects located in the United States.
- Participate in the formulation of macro-based strategy views and research across all asset classes – equities, rates, credit, commodities and foreign exchange.
- Respond to developing macro-economic or geopolitical situations in relation to J.P. Morgan Wealth Management’s view, proactively and reactively.
- Provide Investment Specialists and CMS personnel with guidance comparing, contrasting and, when necessary, acknowledging conflicting discretionary strategy positioning which will arise from time to time.
- Work closely with Marketing, the successful candidate will be relied upon to research, create, and author original thought leadership which will be used to create pieces such as short articles, white papers, videos, audio casts, client calls, presentations and infographics.
- Act as a critical ‘public face’ of J.P. Morgan Wealth Management, responsible for sharing our macroeconomic views, high conviction investment themes and portfolio construction insights with clients and prospects across the United States.
- Travel will be necessary for the role, as in addition to client meetings, the successful candidate will be required to speak at numerous client events and roadshows.
Required Qualifications, Skills and Capabilities:
- A Bachelor’s degree or higher is required.
- Strong client skills as frequent interaction with our clients will be required.
- Superb written and verbal communication skills, as well as the proven ability to effectively convey ideas with passion and clarity (simplify the complex with the use of stories, anecdotes and analogies).
- Writing samples, examples of research or other materials are welcome.
- Intellectual curiosity and the ability to generate insightful and relevant investment ideas backed by rigorous research.
- Strong understanding of financial markets and economics; candidate should be well-versed in capital markets history and economic indicators, as well as equity, fixed income, international, emerging markets, currency, asset allocation, and alternative asset classes.
- Familiarity with statistical packages, Bloomberg, FactSet, Reuters, Microsoft Office, etc.
Preferred Qualifications, Skills and Capabilities:
- Advanced degrees or designations related to Finance or Economics.
- Media training and/or experience a plus.
