This role is for an engineer with the ability to design and develop parts and assembly for a wide range of applications within Amazon. In this role, you’ll identify the requirements through customer engagement and use your education and experience to design and build mechanisms that meet customer needs. This is a hands-on role and requires a self-starter with skill in electromechanical system, design, build, and testing. This role is for an engineer who will drive hardware development projects from concept through production within Amazon Manufacturing Services (AMS). The position combines hands-on technical work with project management and customer collaboration. You'll work across multiple engineering disciplines to deliver innovative solutions that meet Amazon's high standards for quality and efficiency.
Key job responsibilities
• Design and develop mechanical and electromechanical systems using industry-standard CAD tools
• Lead technical discussions with stakeholders to gather and refine requirements
• Create detailed engineering documentation including drawings, specifications, and test procedures
• Perform engineering analysis including FEA, tolerance analysis, and failure mode analysis
• Develop and execute verification and validation test plans
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including operations, quality, and procurement
• Manage 2-3 concurrent projects with varying complexity levels
• Identify and analyze customer requirements with internal Amazon teams that have impact on the customer’s business
• Document part, assembly or product design requirements and attain customer approval to reduce product ambiguity
• Ability to work with intermittent management guidance to complete defined tasks
• Produce complete design packages – CAD detailed drawings, analysis reports, BOMs, Assembly documentation.
• Oversee production requests and give guidance to operations staff to ensure on time delivery
• Execute manual assembly of first articles and complete functional tests to confirm performance
• Facilitate cost trades and design revisions on multiple parallel configurations for cost or manufacturability improvements
• Create final product documentation including test results and user manuals
• Deliver newly designed products and attain customer final approval


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- 3+ years of working in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience
- Experience with prototyping and implementation
- Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans and functional test procedures
- Experience with prototyping and implementation
- Demonstrated experience with CAD software (preferably SolidWorks or similar)
- Experience with GD&T and mechanical drawing standards
- Understanding manufacturing processes and DFM principles
- Ability to perform basic structural and mechanical calculations
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
