What You'll Do
- Strategically oversee and manage all facets of Uber’s global immigration program, ensuring comprehensive compliance with local immigration regulations and Uber’s immigration policies.
- Serve as a key decision-maker on US and global immigration matters, leveraging expert advice and recommendations from immigration vendors to inform strategic initiatives and enhance organisational effectiveness.
- Act as the primary strategic liaison among various service lines, including relocation, mobility tax, and people operations teams, fostering collaboration and optimising service delivery.
- Lead and mentor a team of immigration specialists and on-site team members, promoting a culture of excellence and aligning team efforts with Uber’s strategic goals and values.
- Conduct thorough assessments and strategic updates of existing immigration policies, ensuring alignment with Uber’s evolving needs,the expectations of its workforce and market trends while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate closely with people operations, HR, and legal teams to identify critical areas for policy enhancement, ensuring that immigration strategies are integrated into broader organisational goals and reflect company values.
- Stay ahead of global immigration trends, policies, and best practices to maintain Uber’s competitive edge and compliance.
- Prepare and deliver comprehensive reports to senior management on immigration metrics, compliance status, and policy updates, offering strategic insights to support informed decision-making.
- Lead and manage special projects related to immigration, ensuring alignment with business objectives and timely execution to drive organisational success.
- Oversee the technical integration of systems between vendors and Uber’s internal systems, serving as a critical escalation point and liaison to ensure efficient resolution of issues and streamlined processes.
- Establish and maintain an effective relationship with Uber’s appointed global immigration vendor. Key responsibilities include:
- Strategy alignment - key initiatives with measurable impact driving continuous improvement
- Monitor KPIs/metrics
- Account management
- Monitor and strategically manage immigration budgets, ensuring financial compliance and optimising resource allocation to effectively support global mobility initiatives.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with global Talent Acquisition and People & Places teams to strategically position GRI services as a key enabler to achieving their international talent priorities. Ensure feedback is shared with full GRI leadership team to support the continuous development of the GRI program
Basic Qualifications
- 6+ years of experience in US and global immigration, demonstrating a deep understanding of immigration laws and regulations.
- Experience working in-house in a Global Mobility function
- Previous experience as a people manager
- Experience with global processes
Preferred Qualifications
- Proven project management experience, with the ability to lead initiatives from conception through execution, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
- Strong strategic thinking and decision-making abilities, with a track record of developing and implementing effective immigration strategies.
- Experience in mobility tax and relocation services, with a comprehensive understanding of their interplay with immigration processes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
- Experience managing and coaching a high performing team
- Passionate about employee/stakeholder success with a track record to prove it
For New York, NY-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$137,000 per year - USD$152,000 per year.
For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$137,000 per year - USD$152,000 per year.
