Test Systems Automation Engineer

We are looking for an engineer to automate our test systems. You will work closely with R&D teams to design/implement/maintain automated test systems. Test systems will be used to measure power amplifiers, power supplies, transceiver cards and radio units.

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE AND WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

As part of the team, you will:

  • Work with the R&D design team to develop and provide updates on automated test systems.
  • Collaborate with the design engineer(s) to understand the test requirements and investigate failures
  • Define and design changes (such as instrument selection, controller selection, interface wiring) and implement test solutions using National Instruments LabVIEW, TestStand, or LabWindows CVI
  • Create hardware drawings to aid in the assembly and fabrication of the test system
  • Responsible for the design and implementation of the entire test system. Items include test cables, break-out boxes, interface test adapters, bill of materials, procurement of parts, design documentation (e.g. block diagrams and schematics), and other documentation (e.g. test description docs, operator instructions).
  • Integrate and verify the test system
  • Other duties, as required
  • Travel: up to 5%, Internationally
KEY SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

You have:

  • At least 5 years' experience in testing and automation of test systems, preferably in the telecom industry.
  • Demonstrated experience using LabVIEW, TestStand, or LabWindows CVI.
  • Proven experience in instrument and controller selection and test system design, including interfaces between test equipment and DUT (device under test)
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical or computer engineering, related field, or equivalent experience
  • Experience with RF test equipment, such as signal generators and spectrum analyzers
  • Excellent problem solving and debugging skills which may require making laboratory measurements and/or interacting closely with the hardware design team in order to observe the actual versus expected behavior of test system
  • Good communication skills, ability to build working relationships with engineers within and outside of the department.
