In this role you’ll be accountable for the overall portfolio performance and delivery within the Chicago metropolitan area across the Transportation (primary),Water (secondary)

Key Responsibilities:

You’ll serve as our key local leader and will be accountable and responsible for the following activities:

  • Known and trusted infrastructure (Transportation - primary driver; Water - secondary driver) industry executive to lead the Jacobs’ Chicago operations
  • Serves as a principal point of contact with all local Chicago clients
  • Responsible for committed Business Metrics & KPIs, including P&L components within the larger Director of Operations’ targets
  • Key decision-maker to position and develop strategic teaming arrangements for IL clients such as IDOT, IL Tollway, CDOT, and MWRD
  • Recruit and hire top talent in the Chicagoland area, retain talent, and promote an inclusive and diverse environment
  • Effectively integrates sales, operations, and project delivery functions
  • Market growth opportunities, working jointly with Transportation and Water Market Growth Directors and Regional Market Solution Leaders
  • External visibility to promote the Jacobs brand throughout Chicago
  • Oversees people development and career development for MOPs, including intentional succession planning
  • Promotes Jacobs BeyondZero, quality, and safety programs to create an incident- and injury-free culture
Here's what you'll need
  • Demonstrated progressive leadership experience in transportation, water infrastructure, or buildings consulting - with a desire to work across all three markets
  • Executive Presence and Market Knowledge: brings executive-level relationships with Chicago-based clients; has a commanding knowledge of the Chicago market, specifically in Transportation and/or Water Treatment; and understands the political landscape driving public policy in Chicago and actively engages in government affairs
  • Business Acumen and Collaborative Leadership: demonstrates executive-level business/financial acumen; co-creates and collaborates effectively within the Chicago leadership team, sales, and the broader global Jacobs; and creates trusting relationships inside and outside the leadership team
  • Key Decision Maker: demonstrates decisiveness and courage in making tough decisions; can navigate and manage conflict resolution
  • Outcome Driven: establishes KPIs and disseminates results local staff and other stakeholders; demonstrates relentless prioritization for growth in multiple markets in Chicago and results that keep pace with business needs and expectations from Senior Leadership
  • Client Centric: brings genuine relationships with Chicagoland clients; strong partnership with Client Account Managers (CAM) to deliver tailored, cross-functional, future-forward solutions that anticipate/address clients’ evolving needs
  • Builds Talent: has personally developed the next generation of leaders through coaching/mentoring/sponsoring/succession planning; puts appropriate emphasis on developing diverse employees as part of our larger inclusion strategy
  • Digital Mindset and Global Delivery: can lead and empower the adoption of the Jacobs digital solutions strategy in their book of business; promotes the use of global delivery centers (GDCs) to meet client commitments, drive growth, and enhance profitability
  • Strategic Growth Mindset: strong business development experience and embraces our strategy and actively/effectively drives solutions through innovation, consultancy, and/or sales; exhibits a growth mindset and approach

Ideally, you’ll also have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
  • Professional Engineer Registration in IL
  • Masters of Business Administration
  • Profit & Loss management experience
