Qualifications

  • Design of precision components, modules and subsystems focused in optic mounting, actuating, and alignment, to support the design of next generation cutting edge reticle inspection tools.

  • These tasks will require working with other engineering groups such as Optical engineers, Systems engineers, and Manufacturing + Service engineers to ensure flawless integration and test at the subsystem and system level.

  • Work closely with and manage suppliers to ensure all design requirements are specified and achieved.

  • Act as lead on design tasks guiding small group of engineers and suppliers if appropriate.

  • Address and resolve product issues through the product development phases.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for the complete design process, including:

  • Drive design from beginning to end including requirements specification, feasibility studies, conceptual and detailed design, build and release to manufacturing

  • Develop and track cost and schedule

  • Generate detailed models and drawings, using 3D solid modeling (ProE/Creo)

  • Conduct various analysis, such as fluid, thermal, and vibrational, through both hand calcs and FEA modeling

  • Understand and use Geometric Tolerancing (GD&T)

  • Perform detailed tolerance stack-up analysis

  • Participate in and lead design reviews to obtain a peer-oriented design assessment throughout design process

  • Procure, assemble, and test prototype material

  • Support system integration and testing

  • Create assembly and test procedures

  • Generate documentation and support release and handoff to manufacturing.

Design challenges may include:

  • Low stress and high stability optomechanical & precision mechanism design

  • Design for functionality in ultra-high and ultra-clean vacuum

  • Precision stage and actuation/adjustment design

Required Skills:

  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • Minimum 5 years work experience in 3D solid modeling

  • Minimum 3 years work experience in FEA, GD&T

  • Ability to act as mechanical lead on design challenges requiring 2-4 mechanical engineers, interfacing with other stakeholder groups.

  • Strong background in the design of mechanisms.

  • Basic understanding of optical subsystems.

  • Familiar with manufacturing processes including machining, sheet metal fabrication, welding fabrication and castings.

  • Team player, who takes initiative and demonstrates perseverance and a drive to be better.

Preferred Skills:

  • Creo (ProEngineer) skill strongly preferred.

  • Experience in several of these areas is desirable: opto-mechanical systems, ultra-high vacuum systems, design of inspection equipment or similar instruments, motion controls, electronics, data acquisition systems such as Labview, measurement instrumentation, tooling & test fixture design, supplier management, new product introduction

  • Experience in thermal, structural, and fluid flow modeling and analysis (Pro/Mechanica, ANSYS, CF Design skill strongly preferred).

Doctorate (Academic) Degree and 0 years related work experience; Master's Level Degree and related work experience of 3 years; Bachelor's Level Degree and related work experience of 5 years
