What to Expect
Tesla is continuously pushing the boundaries of innovation in transportation, energy generation, energy storage, self-driving, AI hardware and software. Infrastructure Security Engineering under the Information Security organization is responsible for building and operating security capabilities to measure and continuously improve the security posture of our global on-premises datacenter infrastructure and public cloud footprint. Our on-premises IT infrastructure includes AI platforms that powers our AI endeavors.

As a Senior Security Engineer, Infrastructure, you will be expected to analyze security posture of on-premises and public cloud Kubernetes infrastructure. You will closely work with Platform Engineering teams to create insights and tools that will help application owners to visualize posture, track, and remediate security issues. You will actively participate in security reviews, risk analysis and security solution design.

What You’ll Do
  • Define security policies and implement security controls for Kubernetes infrastructure
  • Identify, assess, and remediate vulnerabilities in Kubernetes workloads
  • Identify threats applicable to Kubernetes platforms and implement strategies to prevent, detect and respond to threats
  • Work with Kubernetes Infrastructure SRE team to remediate security issues
  • Collaborate with Security Operations, Detection, and Incident Response teams to develop detection signals and incident response playbooks and tooling to support their function
  • Develop and maintain documentations for security tools and solutions
  • Use cloud workload protection tools and Tesla-built solutions to govern the security posture of Kubernetes
  • Perform threat modelling and risk assessments in Kubernetes environment
What You’ll Bring
  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent in experience and evidence of exceptional ability
  • Senior or Lead level working experience in a security team supporting one or more of the following areas: Kubernetes infrastructure, cloud infrastructure, on-premises datacenter infrastructure or network security
  • Advanced hands-on experience in Kubernetes administration
  • Hands-on software development experience using containers and deploying to Kubernetes environment
  • Proficient in CI/CD pipelines (e.g. Jenkins, Gitlab etc.) with deep understanding of GitOps principles and tools like Argo CD
  • Good understanding of image vulnerability scanning tools (like Aqua, Wiz, Prisma etc.) and artifact management (e.g. artifactory, docker hub etc.)
  • Proficient in Linux system security and Python, Go, or Java
  • Expertise in Infrastructure security and defense in depth concepts
