Job Summary

What you will do

  • Serve as the company representative during the election process and manage the elections from the employer side

  • Serve as primary point of contact, and own work related to, works council election committees and for works council relationship and requirement management in the Netherlands

  • Develop strategic approach to works council relationship management, including ensuring key topics of interest to company leadership and works council are appropriately managed while regional and global needs are considered

  • Act as the expert and consult with program and business owners to implement compliant change management and works council approval practices for programs and processes with rights from consultation through to co-determination

  • Deliver guidance and enablement for People Team, leadership, and all other functions, to ensure compliant program/process/system delivery and change management for new and existing programs and processes

  • Create and conduct works council and relationship management training for senior leadership and other managers with employees in the Netherlands

  • Research and conduct risk assessments on local collective labor law topics, partner with other teams including the business to develop approach recommendations

What you will bring

  • Legal or related field Bachelor's degree with minimum 6 - 8 years of experience working in works council-focused HR roles OR experienced HR professional with affinity and experience in legal works council topics

  • experience in the area of managing works councils and unions in the Netherlands within a matrix-driven US company

  • Experience partnering with legal function to draft legal documents, especially works council agreements

  • Extensive experience in the ability to analyze data and derive conclusions, insights, recommendations, and plans of action

  • Demonstrated understanding of collective labor law in the Netherlands and how to implement legal requirements into existing and new HR/other corporate programs and processes

  • Ability to build credible relationships / partnerships across multiple functions with international partners at varying levels of the company

  • Proven ability to negotiate a variety of topics with works councils

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and prioritize shifting demands

  • Ability to respect confidentiality within the team and throughout the organization

  • Detail-oriented with solid research and analytical skills while seeing the big picture and being able to think strategically

  • Excellent Dutch and English communication skills

  • Excellent organizational skills.

  • Project management skills is a plus
