Principal Data Scientist

In this role, you will:

• Partner with a cross-functional teamof data scientists, software engineers, and business leaders to develop insights that drive community investments and financial well-being.

• Leverage a broad stack of technologies—Python, R, Conda, AWS, H2O, Spark, and more—to collect, clean, and analyze data from diverse sources.

• Develop and validate causal inference modelsto assess the social impact of internal community initiatives and relevant public programs.

• Solve data challenges creativelyby sourcing and integrating alternative datasets, including government reports, survey data, and financial transaction data.

• Translate complex findingsinto clear, actionable recommendations for internal stakeholders and external partners.

• A Data Guru.You know that great data science starts with understanding the data. You have experience retrieving, combining, and analyzing structured and unstructured data from various sources.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree plus5 years of experiencein data analytics, or Master’s Degree plus3 yearsin data analytics, or PhD in a quantitative field

• At least 1 year of experiencein open-source programming languages for large-scale data analysis

• At least 1 year of experiencewith machine learning

• At least 1 year of experiencewith research or data analysis

• At least 1 year of experiencewith relational databases

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree in aSTEM field(Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) plus3 yearsof experience in data analytics, or PhD in STEM

• At least 1 year of experienceworking with AWS

• At least 3 yearsof experience inR, Python, or Scala

• At least 3 yearsof experience with machine learning

• At least 3 yearsof experience with SQL

McLean, VA: $158,600 - $181,000 for Princ Associate, Data Science Anytown, IL: $144,200 - $164,600 for Princ Associate, Data ScienceThis role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
