Lead a multi-disciplinary team of failure analysis engineers by providing guidance and mentorship on lab strategies and goals.
Oversee the investigation of products and materials using a wide variety of analytical techniques and dive deep into complex issues to identify the root cause of failure.
Represent the failure analysis team in key executive review meetings by providing regular updates on and impact from major findings.
Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product design, quality, reliability and operations to address failures and implement corrective actions.
Work closely with team leads from other internal laboratories to share and redistribute projects to lower overall turnaround times without impacting analysis quality.
Develop new failure analysis methodologies and techniques to address emerging characterization needs while staying up-to-date with the latest analytical technologies and best known practices.
Provide team with leadership that ensures compliance with all relevant lab environmental, health and safety requirements.
Masters degree in Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Physics or a related discipline.
10+ years of proven ability in failure analysis and 5+ years managing / leading people.
Demonstrated experience with analyzing complex failures in microelectronic / mobile consumer electronic products.
Broad experience across various domains - electrical fault isolation, non-destructive imaging, physical failure analysis, electron microscopy, analytical chemistry and materials & surface characterization.
Solid technical understanding and application knowledge of various failure analysis techniques (e.g., TDR, LIT, X-ray CT, CSAM, SEM/EDS, FIB, FTIR, GC/IC/ICP-MS, DSC, TGA, TEM, XPS, TOF-Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an ability to make data-driven decisions.
Ability to convey complex data sets from multiple sources into a concise and understandable form.
Experience in managing daily operations of a failure analysis lab.
Excellent verbal, written communication.
Ability to lead multiple teams and prioritise multiple high priority tasks at the same time, delegating optimally
Identifies and drives initiatives to continuously improve lab efficiency and data quality.
