As a Fire Life Inspector, you will:
- Follow structured inspection schedules, performing inspection, testing, and minor service/deficiency repairs on Fire Life Safety equipment (including sprinkler systems, backflow preventers, fire pumps, and fire alarm systems) to meet NFPA and local codes.
- Perform inspection, testing, and service on a wide range of fire life safety systems, including:
- Sprinkler Wet systems
- Sprinkler Dry Systems
- Pre-Action and Deluge Fire Sprinkler Systems
- Backflow preventers
- Water Tanks
- Fire Hydrants
- Foam-based Systems
- Water mist systems
- Fire Pumps
- Clean and Inert Agent Fire Suppression Systems
- Kitchen Hoods Suppression Systems
- Fire Alarm Systems
- Discuss noted deficiencies, remedies, and pricing with customers, ensuring clear communication and understanding.
- Maintain complete and accurate documentation of all tests performed, generating reports within Siemens tools and uploading to city municipality websites.
- Provide clear instructions to customer personnel regarding proper operation and routine inspections, and assist with the training of new team members.
- Perform service and deficiency repairs on fire life safety systems.
- Complete service ticket documentation and inspection reports thoroughly before leaving customer sites.
- Work overtime as needed to meet customer demands and project timelines.
- Maintain the organization and stock of your vehicle, ensuring tools and equipment are readily available and in good condition.
- Adhere to all local, corporate, and OSHA safety policies and procedures.
- Complete required training and certifications within the specified time requirements for this role.
You will make an impact with these qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- Possession of RME-I and/or FEL-A License.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience performing Inspections, Testing, and Maintenance (ITM) of Fire Life Safety Systems.
- Ability and willingness to work in diverse environments, including around mechanical and electrical equipment.
- Comfortable with heights, including climbing ladders, scaffolds, and high-lift equipment.
- Ability to work in various conditions (ducts, above ceilings, outside/inside, heat/cold, day/night).
- Proficiency in using hand tools, laptops (Microsoft proficient), email, smartphones, and tablets.
- Ability to safely carry and move equipment and tools weighing up to 75 pounds unassisted.
- Demonstrated ability to differentiate types and colors of wire.
- Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to work out of town 25%.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Possession of the following licenses:
- FEL-A
- RME-I
- FAL or APS
- Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester (BPAT) license
- High school diploma or state-recognized GED; Associate's degree in electronics or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience performing Inspections, Testing, and Maintenance (ITM) of Fire Life Safety Systems.
- Ability to read and understand design and construction documents.
