About This Role:

As a Software Engineer III, you will be part of an on-site team of talented engineers and automation specialists who create and support automated solutions for our manufacturing and new product development customers. You will support the development, implementation, and support of automated equipment and software systems for medical device manufacturing. This role has a direct approach in equipment development including automation and controls design, electro-mechanical systems, industrial and collaborative robots, and computer hardware and software support. This enables us to support and develop a wide range of legacy and innovative technology solutions across the full spectrum of manufacturing capability from high volume automation to low volume manual assembly.

Your Responsibilities Include:

  • Work in a cross functional team to provide software solutions for manufacturing, PD and R&D equipment for our Maple Grove Operations team. Cross functional teams typically include Operations, Process Development, R&D, and all function within Equipment Engineering team.
  • Design, develop, debug, and deploy desktop and web-based applications that automate Boston Scientific’s manufacturing processes to meet specific requirements.
  • Develop and deploy PC based software solutions using technologies such as VB.NET, C#, WPF, .NET CORE.
  • Perform unit, validation, and integration testing of developed software.
  • Create and maintain high quality documents to provide technical, user and validation documentation for software solutions.
  • Work with production teams to understand their processes and recommend solutions to solve their problems and improve process efficiency and quality.
  • Place strong emphasis on customer focus by providing timely support of production issues.
  • Deploy software packages to production and provides follow up training, support, and upgrades.
  • Participates in the development of less experienced staff by setting an example, providing informal guidance, and offering counsel.
  • May lead smaller projects within the function or department and/or represents a specialized field in larger project teams. Influences peers, first level, and occasionally second management on business solutions.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, software engineering, or a closely related field of study.
  • Passion for connecting technical solution with operational excellence.
  • 2-4 years of engineering / related work experience.
  • Solid understanding of computer science principles including software architectures, data management systems, and programming languages.
  • Experience in Object-Oriented programming and design methodologies.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft based languages and frameworks (C#/VB.NET, .NET Framework/.NET Core, WPF, WinForms, MVVM design pattern).
  • Experience integrating third party hardware platforms using .NET based languages and frameworks.
  • Technical project team member and leadership experience.
  • Developing systems for a manufacturing environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of experience
  • Equipment integration and control (PLC, sensors, servo/stepper motors, controls, pneumatics, vision, HMI design, electrical panels, safety).
  • Aerotech Automation 1 drives and controllers.
  • Manufacturing environments, execution systems, and data architectures.
  • Cognex VisionPro, Designer, and Deep Learning integration.
  • Electrical debugging, IO, and safety.
