Microsoft Principal Software Engineer - Azure Core

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years technical engineering experience with C++ or C# and associated ecosystem.
  • 3+ years of experience developing high scale, distributed systems on a cloud platform.
  • 3+ years of mentoring and coaching other software engineers.

Other Requirements:

  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science
    • OR related technical field AND 10+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, or Python
    • OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, or Python
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • Experience with conversational systems, building Machine Learning (ML) tooling or working with Large Language Models (LLM’s), Voice Assistant skills, natural language processing concepts and fundamentals.
  • Experience building complex distributed systems.
  • An understanding of cloud development principles and patterns.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic, and collaborative environment, with multiple stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
  • Problem-solving skills with ability to quickly adapt to new technology and go deep.
  • Analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to quickly adapt to new technologies and use data/metrics to drive product decisions and outcomes.
  • Proven track record of delivering successful products and features that meet customer needs and business objectives with passion for customer satisfaction, innovation, and quality.
  • Communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts and value propositions to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities
  • Design, code, test, and deploy features with quality, maintainability, and end to end ownership in collaboration with project lead, user experience (UX)
  • Act as a technical leader, guiding the team through complex problems. Review and contribute to the specifications and implementations written by other team members.
  • Work closely with engineering managers and break down long-term project vision into milestones as part of an overall roadmap.
  • Collaborate effectively within the team and with partner teams across Microsoft.
  • Proactively seek new information and adjust to new trends, technical solutions, and patterns that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance while also driving monitoring improvements and operations at scale.​
