As a–
Commercial L/C Document Examiner & Loans and L/Cs Payment Processorwithin Trade & Working Capital Operations team at JPMorgan Chase Bank N.A, you will be responsible for examining shipping/transport documents against Letters of Credit (L/C) and applicable rules, and processing payments/loans as a maker. You will also be responsible for ensuring seamless workflow, and expediting urgent transactions as per Service Level Agreements (SLA).

Trade & Working Capital provides its clients with financing, risk mitigation and processing of cross border import and export activity through multiple products and solutions. We offer Documentary and Standby Letters of Credit, Guarantees, Collections, Supply Chain Finance, and Loan products. We have established a distributed operating model with regional hubs, global processing centers and a network of branches. Trade Finance is a credit based product which is highly complex and requires a significant amount of expertise. Whether we are providing a small value rental guarantee or a $100mm financing transaction, our focus is on providing a first class service to our clients.

Job responsibilities

  • Monitor workflow queues and process the transactions assigned to you
  • Examine shipping/transport documents against the terms of Commercial Letters of Credit (L/C)
  • Book/setup Loans for Corporates or Financial Institution
  • Process the payments against Letters of Credit or under Trade Loans
  • Liaise client services on disputed discrepancies explaining the reason for raising in a professional manner
  • Meet quantity and quality of work standards to meet established objectives
  • Ensure a smooth workflow, review difficult cases, and expedite urgent transactions per SLA
  • Research and resolve operational issues, review and recommend new methods and procedures for process improvement and efficiency
  • Spur the Operations team forward while achieving client satisfaction at all times, maintaining a controlled environment
  • Ensure that all transactions are processed in accordance with documented Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and comply with internal operating standards, Customer Service Levels, Industry Rules and with Standards and Compliance
  • Maintain a client-focused approach, engage team members in best practices, exercising sound judgment, based upon knowledge and experience, at all times

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Ability to follow standing procedures and understanding of clients instructions which may differ among transaction and client
  • Self-starter who is creative with a ‘can-do’ attitude and strong work ethic
  • Exceptional attention to detail and problem solving skills
  • Ability to multitask and handle high stress while maintaining accuracy in tight deadlines
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work with cross-functional global teams and interact with all staff levels
  • Trade product knowledge with the ability to analyze, assess and determine key issues within the context of complex business products
  • Ability to identify any Red Flags/OFAC regulatory/Anti-money laundering (AML) & Boycott Language in the transactions
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and negotiate, good Personal Computer (PC) skills with a proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel required
  • Ability to prepare, format, and proof for accuracy of data content for internal and external reports as it relates to the date or assigned transactions

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Certifiedate for Documentary Credit Specialists (CDCS) is preferred
  • Knowledge of UCP600, URC522, International Standard Banking Practice (ISBP), Boycott Regulations, and OFAC compliant requirements including complex processing (i.e. Transfers, and assignment of Proceeds) is preferred
