What You’ll Be Doing:
Providing support during design, build, and commissioning of newly built automation equipment (assembly lines, robotic cells – material handling, test equipment, and similar).
Robot Cell Troubleshooting and diagnostics.
Setting up robot cells including vision and force monitoring (Fanuc, Yaskawa, and ABB).
Programming PLCs, HMIs, vision and motion systems, safety controllers, etc.
Modification of existing production equipment.
Setting up controls networks (Ethernet/IP, Ethercat …).
Modifications of existing and development of new Labview based programs.
Knowledge of Electrical design – components selection, prepare schematics (E-plan would be an asset).
Solid understanding of Industrial electrical methods and general best practices relating to automation.
Working with Mechanical Designers, attending design reviews, and supporting mechanical design from controls side.
Customer support during equipment commissioning.
Continuous improvements – improving existing methods, systems, and looking for better ways of approaching a problem.
Prepare technical documentation, user and maintenance manuals, setup procedures, etc.
Employee safety and welfare, and business economic success.
Work as a team member to complete the implementation of new or modified production machines in conjunction with new manufacturing projects.
Ensure that all levels of safety are implemented into each automation change.
Completion of run at rate process performance testing in conjunction with manufacturing operations.
Ability to support the redesign/engineer the machine components necessary to improve equipment performance.
Must be capable to support in specifying and sourcing materials and equipment to best suit requirements.
Travel between Johnson Electric locations both domestic and international.
Other duties as required.
What We’re Looking For:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering technology or equivalent experience.
5+ years of experience in an automation environment.
Expert level in PLC programming (Omron NJ/Allen Bradley) and Robot programming as well as simulations(Fanuc/Yaskawa/Kuka).
Hands-on technical skills with respect to Electrical Systems, Hydraulic Systems, Pneumatic Systems.
Knowledge of Labview based systems and ability to program them is a definite asset.
Understanding of the SQL database and related software.
Understanding of automotive systems and quality requirements based on IATF 16949/ISO9001 operating systems.
Willing to travel as required.
Excellent communications, negotiating, conflict management, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization.
Provide support to suppliers and internal team of controls technicians.
Able to communicate effectively, both written and verbally, at all levels of the organization.
