The Sr. Private Platform Infrastructure Engineer (VP) role is one of the key roles that exist on the team. In this role, you will be part of the global Private Platform Services Engineering team responsible for end-to-end solutions engineering and certification for virtualization products supporting our internal private cloud.

Job Overview:

The ideal candidate forwill have extensive hands-on experience in managing large-scale virtualization environments and cloud-native solutions. As a technical lead you will be responsible for a variety of engineering activities including the design, acquisition, and development of hardware, software, and network infrastructure in coordination with other Technology teams. The overall objective of this role is to ensure quality standards are being met within existing and planned frameworks.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the engineering, proof of concept, deployment, and ongoing management of VMware, Nutanix, and Containerized environments.

  • Design, certify, and implement highly available and scalable infrastructure solutions to support critical business applications.

  • Ensure efficient resource utilization across virtual and cloud environments to meet performance, security, and availability requirements.

  • Develop automation scripts and tools to streamline operations, reduce manual intervention, and improve infrastructure reliability.

  • Utilize configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform) to automate the provisioning and management of virtual, cloud, and containerized environments.

  • Implement comprehensive monitoring solutions to proactively detect and resolve issues across virtual, cloud, and container environments.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical problems, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum performance.

  • Regularly analyze system performance and make recommendations for improvements. Create and maintain detailed documentation of infrastructure designs, configurations, and procedures.

  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to cross-functional teams.

  • Evaluate products, develop prototypes, contribute to design initiatives, and assist with implementation where required.

  • Work with various cross functional infrastructure teams to identify and resolve problems.

  • Consult with end users and clients to identify and correct systems problems or propose solutions.

  • Assist in the development of software and systems tools used by integration teams to create end user packages.

  • Adhere to Citi technology standards, audit requirements and corporate compliance issues and requirements.

  • Apply knowledge of engineering procedures and concepts and basic knowledge of other technical areas to day-to-day activities

  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 7+ years of progressively advancing experience in large-scale, enterprise class roles supporting private cloud IT infrastructure.

  • Expert knowledge of VMware vSphere, vSAN, VCF, NSX, and virtual Load Balancers (AVI and/or F5)

  • Hands-on experience with Nutanix AHV and Prism Central

  • Proficiency in Google Cloud services, including Compute Engine, GKE, and networking.

  • Experience with infrastructure automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform).

  • Current expertise in Deployment, Configuration, LifeCycle Management of VMware related products including the VMware Cloud Foundations stack consisting of but not limited to vCenter, ESXi, VCF Operations, VCF Automation, and VMware Aria Suite of products.

  • Expert design, implementation, and support experience with Nutanix Prism Central, AHV, AOS and other on-prem hypervisor technologies.

  • Experience in public cloud solutions such as Google, Azure, AWS are a plus.

  • Proficiency with server hardware including modern Dell and HP platforms, GPUs, and Network Interface Cards/Drivers

  • Familiarity working in Financial Services or other large, complex and/or global environments required.

  • Possess soft skills interfacing with project management, project planning, and writing technical documentation.

  • Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of design metrics, analytics tools, benchmarking activities, and related reporting metrics to maintain compliance with best practices.

  • Demonstrate analytic/diagnostic skills with ability to promptly reach resolutions to hardware, software, networking, or storage related issues.

  • Ability to work in a matrix environment and partner with offshore virtual teams.

  • Ability to work independently, multi-task, and take ownership of various parts of a project or initiatives.

  • Ability to work under pressure and manage tight deadlines or unexpected changes in expectations or requirements.

Certifications (Preferred but not required):

  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP)

  • Nutanix Certified Professional (NCP)

  • Google Cloud Certified

  • Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)

  • Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
