We’re looking to hire a Director, Public Affairs Communications, Cybersecurity. This person will becybersecurity policy, threat intelligence,influence operationslarge portionstell stories aboutwhat nation-states are doing to attack their targets anddomestic and globalYou will work closely with teams focused on, and disrupting threatsas well as those shaping smartwork in a fast-paced environment, communicating real-time developments andmanaging crisis scenarios.be responsible for

The candidate will be a world class communicator with strength and direct experience in media relations at the highest level and the other tools in modern communications including messaging, social media, broadcast communication, content development, and events.have a deep understanding ofknow how to manage a crisis and provide communications counsel for senior executives.You’ll be a practitioner of communications yourself and be able to manage direct reports as well as agency teams.

The role is preferably based inNew York, NYWashington DC, or Redmond, WA


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, Finance, or related field AND 6+ years Communications, Marketing Operations, Field Operations, Program Management, Project Management, or related experience
    • OR equivalent experience
  • 1+ year(s) people management experience
  • 6+ years of experience in communications for policy or corporate communications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to manage complex issues in an incredibly fast-changing environment
  • Direct andsignificant experienceworking with reporters proactively and reactively
  • Ability to provide strategic communications counsel to executives
  • Understanding of evolving communications trends like social and digital media
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team and across complex cross-group organizations
  • Proventrack recordfor new and innovative storytelling with ability to take risks
  • Experience in navigatingcommunications on cybersecurity,influence, or public policytopics
  • Deep understanding of geopolitics globally and domestic politics in large markets

Responsibilities
  • Participate in business strategy planning and executive counsel
  • Monitor and respond to the geopolitical, threat intelligence, political, and influence operations environments
  • Guide teams to monitor, track, and analyze the impact of our work and messaging for a given issue
  • Oversee developing and execution of stories in fresh ways that generate positive perceptions towards Microsoft
  • Manage an internal team through empowerment and accountability by modeling, coaching, and caring
  • Lead and direct agency teams, managing decisions in making in determining agency partnership needs and empowering agency teams for success
  • Embody Microsoft’s and and operate with the utmost integrity.
