Responsibilities:
- Demonstrated understanding of estimating organizational structure and process, including quantity takeoff, crew development, productivity relationships, material quotations, contingency/risk, knowledge of markup structures and estimate documentation
- Develop construction cost estimates
- Will interpret plans & specifications from multiple design phases; program, conceptual, design development through 100% Construction Documents and into change orders and generate quantity takeoffs and pricing for all systems
- Analyzes drawings and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates
- Review, validate and offers advice in the preparation of cost estimates
- Consults with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues
- Traveling to job sites to gather information on materials needed, labor requirements, and other factors
- Using relevant computer software to calculate estimates
- Evaluating a product’s cost-effectiveness or profitability
- Recommending ways to make a product more cost-effective or profitable
- Contribute to Risk Analyses, Value Engineering, and Constructability exercises
- Assists in developing cost documents such as project management plans for the duration of the project. Responds to cost needs for the duration of the project
Here's what you'll need
- Master’s degree in construction management, engineering, project management, or related technical field
- Min 4-6 years of relevant estimating, progressive experience with increasing responsibility in building infrastructure will be an asset
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
- Report writing and strategic planning skills
- Familiarity with analyzing requirement data to develop material and cost estimates for complex projects
- Working knowledge of codes in the engineering disciplines
- Expertise with estimating software
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents including drawings.
- Excellent written communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
- Possess excellent/good English oral and written communication skills
- Independent, pro-active, accurate, with strong organizing skills
- Experience with international markets will be an advantage
