Key job responsibilities
As a Mechanical Engineer within our team, you will engage with a skilled and accomplished cross-disciplinary staff to conceive and design innovative technologies. You will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to drive key aspects of technology solution definition, execution and validation. Some of the key job functions of the mechanical engineer include:- Serve as the technical lead for mechanical sub-systems and components through the entire product development life cycle, from inception and roadmap through design
- Design and validate sub-systems and components to meet program schedule
- Provide detailed design and validation documentation for design reviews and release
- Function as a subject matter expert on investigating a variety of mechanical and manufacturing technologies by providing up-to-date, accurate information to colleagues and management
- Manage the technical relationship with internal & external vendors & partners to deliver new components to the required specification and scheduleA day in the life

- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering (or similar field) and 8+ years of experience in the consumer or industrial electronics industry as a mechanical design engineer
- Experience with design tools including Solidworks and/or ProE/Creo
- Experience with FEA, DFMEA, and statistical analysis tools
- Experience with thermal analysis, product validation, and materials process validation
- Prior experience with delivering products into mass production
- Experience in engaging, working with, and managing vendors and suppliers to deliver in fast-paced technical environment

- MS in mechanical engineering
- Analytical and methodological root cause analysis and troubleshooting skills including DOE and 8D
- System design interfacing to a wide array of electro-mechanical and opto-mechanical sub-systems
- Experience designing with plastic injection molding and tooling, aluminum castings & sheet metal parts
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to executives and non-technical leaders
- Prior experience with weight sensing, load cells, strain gauges is a strong plus
