The ideal candidate requires strong analytical skills in order to filter, prioritize and validate potentially complex and dynamic materials from multiple sources. Additionally, the candidate will regularly assume informal/formal leadership roles within teams and will be involved in coaching and training of new recruits. The AVP will have a significant impact in terms of project size, geography, etc. by influencing decisions through advice, counsel and/or facilitating services to others in area of specialization. Strong communication, diplomacy and leadership skills are required.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct periodic credit monitoring including Annual Reviews (ARs), Quarterly Portfolio Reviews (QPRs), and Criticized Credit Reviews (CCRs), and update risk ratings and regulatory classifications accordingly.
- Remain current on all aspects of the credit relationship, including exposure, compliance, and potential credit concerns.
- Maintain and update internal system records for credit approval and consent, and loan performance data for regulatory reporting (Y-14, CCAR).
- Conduct in-depth analyses of financial data and other information, assessing deal strengths, weaknesses and risk factors though research and evaluations from a wide variety of sources;.
- Inform bankers and 2nd Line of Defense of any deterioration in operating performance based on financial reporting.
- Ensure Credit Approval Memo (CAM) packages are complete, accurate and thoroughly documented and ensure that all transactions follow regulatory and Citi guidelines, policies and procedures.
- Support and Confirm deal team due diligence activities and preparation of CAMs during new deal origination.
- Verify data accuracy in collateral and facility records, for example, prepared by other internal partners.
- Make well-articulated recommendations on credit decisions, including risk ratings and regulatory classifications, to achieve consensus with deal teams and 2nd Line of Defense approvers.
- Support Senior members of the ICM team in making recommendations/credit decisions, including risk ratings and regulatory classifications as well as during internal reviews (BICR, IBQA, IA) and external regulatory exam responses.
- Fully conversant on safe and sound risk practices within Real Estate Credit including all policies, standards, procedures, and risk limits specific to their Portfolio
Qualifications:
- 3 to 5 years relevant experience.
- A good track record of experience in a similar role. Previous experience working directly in Commercial Real Estate underwriting or credit preferably in the financial services industry.
- Ability to apply credit and risk principles toward business goals.
- Demonstrated ability to synthesize, prioritize and drive results with a high sense of urgency.
- Highly organized and able to work in a fast-paced environment managing multiple projects and possess effective interpersonal, organizational and analytic skills.
- Solid organizational skills with ability and willingness to work under pressure and manage time and priorities effectively with little to no supervision.
- Highly effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely to audiences of varying levels of seniority.
Education:
- Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience
