Job Description:

The successful candidate will have the following specific qualifications and experience:

A demonstrated record of focused, strong and extensive experience counseling clients in most, if not all, of the following practice areas, preferably in a bank or fintech environment:

  • debt collection laws, regulations and related legal issues at federal, state and local levels
  • creditors’ rights, preferably in a bank or fintech environment
  • payments law
  • debt collection licensing related experience
  • In depth knowledge and understanding of related core laws, rules and regulations with respect to the above practice areas, including: FDCPA, Regulation F, State and Local Debt Collection Law, TCPA, UDAPP, REG E, NACHA Rules and US Bankruptcy Code.

  • Practical, business minded, approach to counseling clients on legal risk and issues.

  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to effectively explain/summarize complex concepts to varying audiences.

  • Ability to focus both on attention to detail and the broader picture.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and to tolerate change and ambiguity.

  • Ability and drive to take ownership of projects and tasks and bring them to prompt and effective completion. Ability to work both in teams and independently.

  • Facility with a team-based approach and comfort with a flexible, agile environment that emphasizes collaboration and team performance.

  • Creative thinker with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to stay calm under challenging circumstances.

  • 15 or more years of substantive and focused experience practicing in the subject matter areas specified above either in-house, preferably in a bank or fintech environment, or at a law firm.

  • Juris Doctorate or equivalent degree. Admitted to a state bar.
