APPLE INC has the following available in Cupertino, California and various unanticipated locations throughout the USA. Design, develop and implement image processing algorithms for digital cameras to improve the image quality of camera preview and captured assets (for example videos, still images). Research, develop and implement novel tone mapping algorithms which adjust captured image brightness to better match the human visual system non-linear brightness perception. The designed algorithms are intended to control the Image Signal Processor (ISP) hardware available on Apple Silicon. Prototype algorithms and data flows using Matlab, Python and bit accurate hardware models to evaluate your algorithms before silicon platforms become available for use. Implement algorithms in C or C++ to run on prototype and shipping hardware devices. Collaborate with Video Image Quality teams to evaluate algorithm performance in real life usage scenarios and assess image quality improvements to quantify quality gains over competitors and previous algorithm revisions. Work with silicon design teams to propose new hardware architectures and processing blocks to be implemented in future hardware generations. Bring up existing tone mapping algorithms on new hardware platforms and validate C/C++ algorithm implementation correctness. Perform initial image quality evaluations through laboratory and field testing. Develop, debug, optimize, check-in and review ISP firmware code 40 hours/week. At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $175,800 - $264,200/yr and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
