Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for legal support activities related to legal operations, litigation/discovery/settlements or negotiation and contract administration
  • Manages the execution, review, processing and tracking of legal documentation and records, executes transactions and completes varied work requests from multiple sources that may be complex in character and have tight deadlines
  • Participates in legal programs and projects to achieve coordinated and efficient process improvements and legal support solutions; liaises with other control/functional businesses in support of initiatives
  • Interacts with senior leaders, internal and external peers to gather information and works closely with the team’s management to determine legal solutions
  • Continuously stays informed of regulatory changes, new regulations, internal policy changes and developments in the law
  • Conducts independent research, investigations and analysis, applying institutional knowledge and knowledge of laws, rules and regulations, to support in the identification of legal solutions situations or to formulate an approach or strategy
  • Applies in-depth understanding of how associated risks differ depending on product and documentation envisaged in relevant jurisdiction(s) and provides advice to the Risk function and business partners accordingly
  • Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
Qualifications:
  • 6-10 years of relevant industry experience, preferably with some experience working in an in-house legal role within financial services
  • Ability to manage complex documentation with organization anddetail
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal and project management skills, as well as the ability to interact and communicate effectively with Senior management
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, PowerPoint, Excel,Outlook
  • In-depth knowledge of legal customs andpractices
  • Knowledge and understanding of the financial servicesindustry
  • Bachelors/University degree, Master’s degreepreferred

Job Description:

The Senior Project Manager ("PM") is an experienced professional who acts as the point of contact and leads eDiscovery work for the Citi Legal team. They orchestrate the successful end-to-end execution of eDiscovery activities with external vendors. They advise outside counsel and internal Citi teams for Litigation and Regulatory Investigation matters on eDiscovery best practices, Citi data characteristics, and Citi policy. The Senior PM ensures the project is meeting the goals of the Legal team, is experienced in communicating technical specifics, spots and mitigates issues that impact eDiscovery, tracks and ensure matter details and key issues are transparent to team members. The Senior PM will have developed sound judgement in eDiscovery and data management that naturally aligns with Citi Policy and Standards, and ensures Citi is compliant with our legal and regulatory obligations. This is a demanding role, which requires strong ethical standards, sense of urgency, and experience collaborating with team members to mitigate issues that arise during the eDiscovery lifecycle. The Senior PM would also oversee and provide guidance to more junior PM team members as well as act as a liaison between Citi Collections and technology teams.

Responsibilities include:

  • Point of contact for all parties (internal and external), leads, and provides guidance regarding data collection, processing, review workflow, analytics, and production deliverable based on the matter needs.
  • Provides expert knowledge of eDiscovery industry best practices.
  • End-to-end oversight and reporting of assigned matters for compliance with Citi eDiscovery Guidelines.
  • Maximize efficiencies and cost reductions by using eDiscovery technologies and services offered by the vendors.
  • Submit RFP’s (Request for Proposal) for new projects with our processing and review vendors.
  • Contribute internal process improvement and standardizations.
  • Proactively advise on Citi Data Characteristics, identify and escalate eDiscovery lifecycle issues (e.g., collection, processing, searching, review, production, and data disposition), and communicate and escalate issues appropriately.
  • Review and resolve invoice and vendor issues.
  • Maintain detailed matter notes, documentation, and weekly updates.

Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of eDiscovery project management experience in-house (preferably in a financial institution) or at a large law firm, which includes significant client and vendor interactions.
  • Deep knowledge of discovery workflows including but not limited to collection, processing, review, production, and data disposition.
  • Proven ability to manage data privacy/cross-border eDiscovery requirements.
  • Experience explaining and guiding legal teams on search algorithms and search logic.
  • Strong project and time management skills, with an ability to prioritize, solve problems, support multiple concurrent projects, and meet deadlines.
  • Fluid and adaptable to changing priorities, scope, and technology.
  • Highly organized and able to work independently while consistently demonstrating sound judgement.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a focus on detail and responsiveness.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to quickly learn new processes, systems, and implement learned knowledge to managed matters.
