As a Data Engineer, you are dedicated to building a robust data ecosystem that empowers thousands of data consumers within the company to effectively leverage available data. You will lead the development and operationalization of essential data models, enforce best practices within a DataOps framework, and enhance the quality of analytics and Machine Learning initiatives. Your expertise in Workflow Management, BI Tooling, and Data Engineering will support strategic alignment between data and commercial objectives through active cross-functional interaction. By asking the right questions and collaborating with stakeholders, you will help envision solutions, navigate complex scenarios, and ensure the maintenance of a high-quality Data Warehouse Platform. Additionally, you will architect analytics data solutions and improve the discoverability of analytics assets, all while upholding compliance and data quality standards.

Key Job Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Review, approve and operationalize data models (Conceptual, Logical and Physical).

  • Create and enforce data modelling best practices following the DataOps mindset.

  • Create/maintain Data Warehouse Platform enabling data managers/engineers to operationalise data models.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve data-related challenges, bridging engineering and business teams.

  • Ensure data quality, accuracy, and compliance with standards like GDPR or SOX.

  • Developing analytics data architecture to provide cost optimized platform for Business Analysts, Data Scientists and ML Specialists

  • Create user knowledge base and guidebook for building and governing reports and dashboards on BDX (Booking Data eXchange platform)

  • Help design solution to create discoverability experiences for analytics assets – models, reports, dashboards, metrics, marts/collections of tables, reporting tables

  • Support performance, operations, upgrades, user support for the analytics infrastructure

  • Produce a proposed target architecture for a new capability by working with the business leadership to understand the project scope and business context

Qualifications & Skills:

Are you a data-driven engineer who enjoys solving problems, who initiates solutions and technical discussions? Do you believe that any challenge can be scaled with the right mindset and tools?

  • 5+ years actual experience in designing and implementing mature Data Warehouse pipelines.

  • Excellent knowledge of Dimensional (Kimball) and familiarity with Data Vault modelling techniques.

  • Excellent knowledge of relational databases and SQL. Familiarity with query tuning.

  • Good knowledge of data modeling best practices, data governance and data pipeline management.

  • DataOps mentality, including automation and self-service tool creation to enable iterative problem-solving.

  • Familiarity with automating and creating self-service tooling: CI/CD, linters, formatters to uphold modelling standards.

  • Great communication skills, iterative and pragmatic approach to solving unstructured challenges.

  • Ability to drive and take the lead in projects from a technical perspective

  • Python, SQL, Snowflake

  • dbt, AutomateDV

  • Airflow

  • Gitlab CI/CD, Docker, AWS

  • Data modelling tools (Ellie)
