The Water Infrastructure Tech is responsible for the following key duties:Operational Tasks
- Perform routine maintenance on water infrastructure equipment including pumps, filters, and treatment systems
- Execute preventive maintenance tasks on water systems according to established schedules and procedures
- Conduct regular retention pond inspections, checking for debris, erosion, and proper water levels
- Remove sediment, trash, and vegetation from retention pond areas as needed
- Remediate exceedance issues on Non-contact Cooling Water retention ponds
Water Management
- Collect water samples for testing and compliance purposes
- Monitor and record water quality parameters using testing equipment
- Support water conservation efforts by identifying and reporting leaks or inefficienciesEquipment Support
- Maintain inventory of spare parts and consumables for water systems
- Assist with basic troubleshooting of water treatment equipment
- Support Chief Engineers during equipment repairs and installations
- Clean and maintain water treatment equipment according to specificationsDocumentation
- Record completion of preventive maintenance tasks in the Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) system
- Document water sampling results and testing activities
- Report any abnormalities or concerns observed during inspectionsSafety & Compliance
- Follow all safety protocols when working around water systems and chemicals
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when performing water-related tasks
- Maintain awareness of environmental compliance requirements
A day in the life
A water infrastructure technician's day involves managing critical water systems that support data center operations. The role combines routine maintenance, monitoring, and problem-solving to ensure water systems function efficiently and comply with regulations.Daily Activities
Routine maintenance forms a significant part of the role - cleaning filters, replacing worn components, calibrating instruments, and performing preventive maintenance on treatment equipment. When issues arise, technicians troubleshoot and repair malfunctioning components to minimize downtime.A key responsibility includes monitoring and maintaining non-contact cooling water retention ponds, addressing any exceedance issues promptly to ensure environmental compliance. Technicians maintain detailed documentation of all activities, record operational data, and prepare required reports.During emergencies, they respond quickly to mitigate situations and restore normal operations. They also participate in regular training to stay current with new technologies, equipment, and regulatory requirements.Diverse Experiences

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- High school or equivalent diploma
- 4+ years of data center or mission critical facilities (example: hospital, military facility, public safety facility, etc.) experience
- Knowledge of water treatment processes, equipment, quality regulations and safety procedures.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Associate's degree
- Water Treatment Plant Operator Certification
- Water Distribution System Operator Certification
- Back flow Prevention Device Tester Certification
