Description
As a Materials Engineer specializing in Ceramics, you will work with an extraordinary team of materials experts to help develop and implement high-performance ceramic materials and processes for a wide range of Apple products. Working closely with multi-functional teams and external vendors, you will determine the best materials and processes to meet the stringent requirements for future products.
Minimum Qualifications
- BS/MS/PhD in Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics or Ceramics Engineering
- 5+ years experience in ceramics industry
- Demonstrated ability to independently drive projects, and deliver products
- Excellent communication, organizational and leadership skills. Experience in leading project teams and development projects
- Ability to travel domestically and/or internationally (<10%)
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong fundamentals in materials structure-process-properties relationship
- Experience with materials characterization and analysis methods (i.e. SEM, EDS, XRD, Raman, Spectrophotometers, etc)
- Technical knowledge of glass, glass-ceramics or structural ceramics like zirconia and alumina
- Familiarity with glass/ceramic material finishing technologies
- Track record of material development for products with demanding performance requirements
- Experience working on products with multi-functional groups (manufacturing, reliability, and others) to drive decisions that influence a product or roadmap direction.
- Experience with additive manufacturing process development (3D printing)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including utilization of statistical tools and techniques
Pay & Benefits
- At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $143,100 and $214,500, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Note: Apple benefit, compensation and employee stock programs are subject to eligibility requirements and other terms of the applicable plan or program.
