What You’ll Do
  • Investigate and troubleshoot hardware failures related to the Tesla Optimus robotics program, including mechanical, electrical, and software interaction issues
  • Perform detailed analysis and testing of hardware subassemblies, such as actuators, motors, sensors, power distribution units, and embedded control systems
  • Work from technical documentation (including schematics, CAD models, and specifications) to perform diagnostics and repairs
  • Collaborate with the design and development teams to identify potential design issues and suggest improvements to enhance hardware reliability and performance
  • Develop, refine, and implement procedures for hardware debugging, testing, and failure analysis
  • Work with the Material Review Board (MRB) to address hardware discrepancies and drive resolution for identified issues
  • Collaborate with the manufacturing and operations teams to ensure seamless hardware integration into the Optimus assembly process
  • Provide feedback on current and future design iterations to ensure hardware is scalable and meets long-term operational goals
What You’ll Bring
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working with electromechanical hardware systems, robotics, or similar advanced engineering fields
  • Strong understanding of hardware failure analysis and troubleshooting, including mechanical, electrical, and sensor integration
  • Hands-on experience with robotic systems, including actuators, motors, and sensors, and familiarity with advanced control systems
  • Knowledge of electrical and mechanical CAD design, troubleshooting tools, and test equipment
  • Proficiency with electrical test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, and signal generators) and mechanical measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.)
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to quickly diagnose issues and provide effective solutions
  • Experience with automated manufacturing systems and high-volume hardware production processes is a plus
  • Proficient in using software tools such as CAD (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.), and other relevant diagnostic and data collection tools
  • Familiarity with high voltage systems and electrical safety standards
  • Ability to work collaboratively across Engineering, Manufacturing, and research teams to drive hardware development and resolution of issues
