Investigate and troubleshoot hardware failures related to the Tesla Optimus robotics program, including mechanical, electrical, and software interaction issues
Perform detailed analysis and testing of hardware subassemblies, such as actuators, motors, sensors, power distribution units, and embedded control systems
Work from technical documentation (including schematics, CAD models, and specifications) to perform diagnostics and repairs
Collaborate with the design and development teams to identify potential design issues and suggest improvements to enhance hardware reliability and performance
Develop, refine, and implement procedures for hardware debugging, testing, and failure analysis
Work with the Material Review Board (MRB) to address hardware discrepancies and drive resolution for identified issues
Collaborate with the manufacturing and operations teams to ensure seamless hardware integration into the Optimus assembly process
Provide feedback on current and future design iterations to ensure hardware is scalable and meets long-term operational goals
What You’ll Bring
Minimum of 5 years of experience working with electromechanical hardware systems, robotics, or similar advanced engineering fields
Strong understanding of hardware failure analysis and troubleshooting, including mechanical, electrical, and sensor integration
Hands-on experience with robotic systems, including actuators, motors, and sensors, and familiarity with advanced control systems
Knowledge of electrical and mechanical CAD design, troubleshooting tools, and test equipment
Proficiency with electrical test equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, and signal generators) and mechanical measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, etc.)
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to quickly diagnose issues and provide effective solutions
Experience with automated manufacturing systems and high-volume hardware production processes is a plus
Proficient in using software tools such as CAD (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.), and other relevant diagnostic and data collection tools
Familiarity with high voltage systems and electrical safety standards
Ability to work collaboratively across Engineering, Manufacturing, and research teams to drive hardware development and resolution of issues
