Job responsibilities
- Assisting (in accordance with policies, procedures, regulatory requirements and based on internal guidance and standard operating procedures) in the documentation, negotiation and execution of lending transactions
- Working on group projects and initiatives
- Identifying and advising on related legal issues
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- A qualified lawyer with a minimum of 5 years PQE in England and Wales (qualifications in other common law jurisdiction will be viewed favourably) and relevant experience gained at an international law firm and/or leading financial institution
- Strong technical knowledge is essential and knowledge of and experience with Loan Market Association (LMA) loan documentation including confidentiality agreements, term sheets, mandate letters, inter-creditor agreements, guarantees and security documents as well as LMA secondary loan documentation
- Strong drafting, negotiation and legal analytical skills with strong attention to detail
- Strong working understanding of regulatory matters affecting lending
- Pragmatic with ability to strike appropriate balance between achieving the commercial goals of the business while protecting the interests of JP Morgan as a whole
- Ability to manage competing priorities, project-manage and co-ordinate large projects, in a dynamic global environment
- Ability to work independently on complex lending transactions, escalating key issues where necessary
