Your key responsibilities will include conducting risk management activities, such as product safety, project plan creation, liaison with various teams and vendors, both internal and external, project status monitoring, and reporting. To achieve the highest performance, you will maintain effective and timely communication with the Product Safety team, legal and public relations stakeholders within the department, cross-department, and corporate HQ in the US and Korea, as applicable.
Role and Responsibilities
As a Product Safety and MX PM Risk Management professional at Samsung Electronics America (SEA), your primary objective will be to support product risk-related concerns and protect Samsung's products, brand, and reputation. You will mitigate risks, communicate internally and externally, and utilize strong project management skills to track tasks, manage accountability, and communicate progress regularly. Your main responsibilities will include summarizing outcomes to management, taking notes, creating punch lists, facilitating PMO meetings, and serving as the main PIC/project manager for recall-related activities and PM roles for MX. You will take ownership of the SEA Safety Mailbox and other major items for deliverables.
Skills and Qualifications
- Partnering with internal and external stakeholders to proactively develop a risk management strategy related to product, brand, and reputational risk, and executing initiatives that promote consumer safety.
- Managing product recall-related follow-up activities, including PMO, communication, reporting, and facilitating meetings.
- Assigning tasks and deadlines to specific PMO team members, ensuring deadlines are met or understanding obstacles.
- Managing the SEA Safety Mailbox and serving as the POC for major retailer's product safety/quality POC.
- Handling ad-hoc tasks related to crisis management directed by PL management.
- Reporting on CPSC & retailer-related matters, trends, and risks.
- Capturing and monitoring risk for retailer and builder group safety incident data.
- Performing risk sensing activities to detect emerging risk and trends of the company's products.
- Monitoring and reporting regularly on product safety industry trends and important related issues.
- Ensuring decisions are aligned with Product Safety department objectives, actions are followed up on, and the team is well-prepared to defend a developing risk.
- Working effectively across the organization to ensure consistent communication and transparency around actions being taken against the overall department strategy.
- Leading, tracking, and reporting on safety projects and tasks that are of strategic importance for the organization.
- Ensuring meetings are used for checking tasks, making quick decisions, focusing on issues, bringing issues to the table, and providing short executive-level summaries so that they understand the risk and what decisions may be needed.
- Strong facilitation skills, including facilitating meetings in such a way that all parties' perspectives are heard, taking a balanced and neutral approach to facilitation, and being able to coax information from individuals.
- Being available to attend safety conferences and/or opportunities to speak on behalf of the company.
- Building presentation decks that convey safety and/or technical issues clearly and effectively.
- Ability to influence all levels of key stakeholders when strong disagreement occurs.
- Strong time management skills, working in an environment managing multiple projects at one time.
- Understanding the key challenges/obstacles stakeholders are facing and escalating or tackling them yourself.
- Desire to be hands-on (i.e., prepping work to ensure meetings are efficient) and preparing and completing project plans to help keep projects on track.
- Collaborating with members in Customer Care to provide reporting and analysis on various initiatives, generating reporting on a daily/weekly/monthly basis, with analysis and recommendations.
- Managing various ongoing and ad-hoc projects that may include KPIs and Metrics.
- Providing guidance to call center vendors for mobile products in collaboration with PS vendor business managers.
- Collaborating with project/program developers and business leads to keep projects in scope.
- Communicating to Product Safety management on project status and escalation/decision points.
- Working cross-functionally with HQ teams in Korea and SEA operations to manage all potential risks.
- Serving as a liaison between insurance and law firms to communicate updates and strategy on pending claims.
- Supporting the launch and monitoring of new products related to mobile.
- Performing routine administrative duties as needed (e.g., processing invoices).
