You will be part of the Singapore legal team, collaborating with global stakeholders and working closely with a Senior Director in the US. Flexibility to work with international teams (including the US and Middle East) is required.and problem-solving skills. You’ll proactively support strategic initiatives across multiple teams in a fast-paced global environment.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic legal advice and support to senior management, influencing business strategy an decision making.
- Anticipate regulatory and legal risks, and proactively design strategies to manage them.
- Perform legal and regulatory compliance risk assessments, propose creative solutions where applicable, and help advance business objectives.
- Manage escalations, collaborate across other teams and develop solutions to enable business partners to achieve their goals.
- Develop a strong rapport and working relationship with business counterparts across the enterprise to help drive the delivery of effective legal services.
- Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations, leading the adoption of cutting-edge legal technologies and best practices.
- Manage legal risks and safeguard PayPal's legal interests, developing forward-looking risk management strategies.
- Provide key inputs as an industry leader and expert, staying ahead of legal trends and influencing industry standards.
Expected Qualifications:
- 10+ years relevant experience and a Juris doctorate degree OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
The ideal candidate will:
- Have strong commercial contracting experience, ideally in financial services/payments.
- Provide timely, practical legal advice on commercial transactions.
- Identify regulatory issues and engage specialist legal experts as needed.
- Advise on product design for digital wallets and partner deals, recommending risk mitigation.
- Brief and collaborate with the wider legal, compliance and business teams, maintaining clear records of legal guidance.
Your day-to-day- Advise the Global Markets organization and regularly engage senior stakeholders.
- Draft, negotiate and manage complex commercial agreements and partnerships.
- Work with Legal teams across the US, UK, EU and Asia on strategic deals and product initiatives.
- Develop templates, policies and procedures; deliver training on relevant topics.
- Manage escalations, support cross-team collaboration and enable business partners to close deals.
What do you need to bring- Law degree (LLB/JD or equivalent) with 10+ years’ legal experience, including 2+ years in payments, fintech, financial services or regulatory analysis.
- Strong drafting and communication skills, with the ability to balance legal and commercial considerations.
- Proven ability to influence stakeholders, manage competing priorities, and drive business-focused outcomes.
- Collaborative, proactive and adaptable, with experience advising on product design, regulatory risk and commercial strategy.
- Able to excel in a fast-paced, global, matrixed environment, working independently and as a key team partner.
