As a Plant Human Resources Supervisor, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Act as key focal point for employees and managers at the DeKalb site on all HR matters - an employee advocate, providing expert strategic and operational HR advice, guidance and coaching
  • Advise and coach managers/leaders with client groups and work with them to deal effectively with employee relations issues
  • Support corporate and local HR goals through strategic planning and execution
  • Understand, demonstrate and enforce Federal, State, corporate and local policies and procedures, related to employee relations, safety, disciplinary procedures, and performance management.
  • Support New Employee Recruitment and Onboarding.
  • Administer and facilitate Leader and Employee development programs.
  • Ensures site support of employee led groups and programs.
  • Coordinate and ensure 3M Corporate initiatives such as Employee Assistance & Diversity & Inclusion are implemented & supported
  • Support and implement human resources processes such as salary review, performance management process, etc.
  • Establishes credibility and visibility with employees through regular interaction.


To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start)
  • Three to Six (3-6) years of relevant experience in HR Business Partner or Employee Relations experience in a private, public, government or military environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution
  • Leadership and supervisory skills necessary for managing people such as knowledge of employment law, knowledge of corporate/location policies and procedures, effective communications, performance management, hiring and interviewing, documentation, interpersonal skills, coaching skills, change management, conflict resolution, delegation, goal setting, motivation, emotional intelligence, strategic planning.
  • Strong competence in the various HR functional areas including talent management, coaching and employee relations
  • Must be able to work independently with little oversight
  • Strong judgement & problem-solving skills
  • Proficient in using corporate/local systems, HR systems, sourcing payment systems, etc.
