Roles and Responsibilities
- Lead implementation of EHS programs to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations and GEHC policies. Drive rigor and execution to EHS objectives & metrics.
- Manage EHS Professionals and developing specialized knowledge in their discipline. Has awareness of latest technical developments in own area. Contributes towards strategy and policy development and ensure delivery within area of responsibility.
- Maintain compliance with local environmental, health, and safety regulations. Coordinate employee EHS training, lead EHS compliance, and maintain EHS records. Develop and sustain systems to ensure continuous compliance with all permits.
- Promote a positive EHS culture at all levels of the organization. Provide leadership and technical expertise for Health & Safety and Environmental Framework programs, EHS teams/committees, management, and employees to implement best in class EHS programs and maximize site performance in meeting GE/GEMS EHS goals.
- Support to the site leadership team in matters relating to health, safety, and environment.
- Proactively drive continuous improvement in EHS programs, utilizing Six Sigma methodologies and practices.
- Develop and manage EHS program budget and plan strategically for future programs and initiatives.
- Organize and lead relevant audits, inspections, and supervisory visits.
- Evaluate facility EHS conditions, assess risks, and develop appropriate corrective-action plans and budgets to address deficiencies in comparison to regulations and internal policy/protocol.
- In collaboration with various stakeholders within the GE HealthCare EHS organization globally and locally, develop instructions as required and implement them in the site for safe operations.
- Collaborate with leaders across the business and the site to development and improve the organization's work in the area.
- Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately to high complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, technology, or engineering. Takes new perspective on existing solutions. Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.
Qualifications and experience
- Degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial Safety, Environmental Engineering, or related field (or equivalent)
- 15+ years of substantial experience with proven EHS leadership in a R&D environment or Manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated EHS experience with strong technical and environmental background in process industry.
- Excellent communications skills, including writing and speaking with demonstrated ability to influence and communicate well with all levels of the organization including senior leadership.
- Proven ability to lead teams, drive change and interact cross functionally in a matrix environment with the ability to manage multiple diverse priorities effectively.
- Ability to successfully motivate, and maintain high moral, employee involvement, safety and teamwork.
- Experience with EHS aspects of product stewardship and/or sustainability
