As a Senior Principal Quality engineer, the role is that of a hands-on technical lead of one or more teams and architect for automated test solutions to support the design and implement new functional and nonfunctional tests and test frameworks. You will collaborate with engineers within your team and establish collaboration across other teams . You will devise test strategy for large, multi-team projects and collaborate across these projects. You will need to have a passion for working in open source communities and for developing reference architectures that integrate Red Hat, open source, and partner technologies into a cohesive platform. You will provide technical leadership for individual engineers and teams of engineers and perform as a mentor to more junior engineers in test design and implementation. You will have to be flexible in your approach to addressing tasks and be able to adapt to changes in priorities based on technology or customer requirements. This is not point-and-click manual testing. You will make use of and contribute to extensive suites of automated tests and acquire and apply product and underlying platform knowledge in designing tests.

What you will do

  • Participate in AI/ML upstream communities to ensure the technologies work on OpenShift and can be integrated with RHOAI

  • Work with upstream AI/ML communities to evaluate new AI/ML related technologies from partners and create examples of integrations between their technology and RHOAI

  • Integrate new open source AI/ML components into Red Hat OpenShift AI

  • Present at OpenShift/Kubernetes, and AI/ML related technology conferences and internally within the AI/ML communities of practice

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Own design reviews and automated testing for major product features and bug fixes. You'll be responsible for developing test strategy and frameworks, designing and implementing automated tests, creating and carrying out test plans, researching new features, developing automated tests, and maintaining and enhancing test frameworks.

  • Experience with functional and non-functional testing

  • Serve as an internal advocate for our customers, providing data-driven product quality metrics to all major stakeholders

  • Help grow a company-wide community of Quality enthusiasts that is passionate about our customers’ needs

  • Run technical initiatives that grow, improve, and scale our existing processes

  • Contribute to the development of the Open Data Hub open source project and Red Hat Openshift AI family of products.

  • Work with and develop testing plans for new open source AI components from Open Data Hub and Red Hat OpenShift AI.

  • Use communication skills to communicate with other teams of Red Hat engineers, product managers, consultants, and management across the globe.

Required Skills:

  • Experience with AI and Machine Learning platforms such as Kubeflow, Tensorflow and PyTorch

  • 9+ years of software quality engineering experience including test automation using object-oriented languages; Python is preferred

  • 5+ years of experience managing Linux-based systems in a production environment

  • 3+ years of experience with enterprise system monitoring; knowledge of Prometheus is a plus

  • 1+ year(s) of experience with Kubernetes

  • Experience with Kubernetes operators

  • 1+ year(s) of experience with containers on Linux

  • Experience with Jenkins - Creating Jenkins pipelines, debugging tests through log analysis

Nice to Haves:

  • Experience with Go programming language

  • Experience creating Ansible automation scripts

  • Experience with big data storage techniques such as Parquet, Avro, and S3

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science or other related discipline

  • Experience with web applications using HTML/CSS and JavaScript.

  • Experience with a JavaScript framework like React.

  • Experience with the Robot test framework.

  • Experience with modern CSS frameworks like Bootstrap or Foundation

  • Familiarity with back-end technologies like Node.js

  • Understanding of DevOps methodology

What you will bring

  • Experience with AI and Machine Learning platforms such as Kubeflow, Tensorflow or PyTorch

  • 5+ years of software quality engineering experience including test automation using object-oriented languages; Python and Golang are preferred

  • Extensive experience managing Linux-based systems in a production environment

  • Demonstrated expertise in container-related technologies like Docker, Podman, or Kubernetes

  • Proficiency in Jenkins or other batch management tools, including the creation of pipelines and the ability to troubleshoot tests using log analysis

  • Strong understanding of automated testing at both the API and UI frontend levels

  • Proficient in version control systems such as Git

  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English

The salary range for this position is $144,660.00 - $238,650.00. Actual offer will be based on your qualifications.
