About the role:

In this exciting role, you will work in the Interventional Spine space, developing products, materials, processes, or equipment for projects of moderate complexity. You will work under limited supervision/guidance, and compile, analyze, and produce reports including operational, test, and research data to establish performance standards for newly designed or modified products, processes, and materials. You will conduct exploratory and feasibility research activities as required.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Project team participation in product design and development, test of materials, preparation of specifications, process capability studies, research investigations (computational, preclinical, and clinical studies), report preparation, and process/test documentation.
  • Working independently to plan and schedule own activities necessary to meet timelines.
  • Designing and coordinating standard engineering tests and experiments.
  • Designing, procuring, and fabricating tooling and fixtures.
  • Performing troubleshooting on new products/process problems as related to design, material, or process.
  • Summarizing, analyzing, and drawing conclusions from test results.
  • Preparing standard reports/documentation to communicate results to technical community.
  • Responsibility for engineering documentation.
  • Inventing/ creating concepts and designs for new products/processes and submitting idea disclosures.
  • training and/or provide work direction to technicians.
  • Working cooperatively with process development, quality, manufacturing, regulatory, clinical, and marketing to ensure project success.
  • Demonstrating PDP/TPD system knowledge through delivery of high-quality deliverables.
  • Utilizing Injection molding & metal instrument design for percutaneous surgical tools.
  • Travel is estimated at 10% which will mostly be between BSC sites.

Required Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering and a minimum of 2 years of design/development experience in the medical device industry, or A.A degree and 4+ years of work experience in the medical device industry.
  • Experience with SolidWorks or similar CAD system(s).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Orthopedic or Spine devices a plus.
  • Experience with Single use disposable tools a plus.
  • Experience with sterilization, biocompatibility, shelf-life testing a plus.

The anticipated annualized base pay range this full time position working at this location will be from, plus annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements) and the value of core and optional employee benefits being offered at Boston Scientific (BSC), which can be reviewed at . At BSC, it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the pay range
.BSC considers various factors in determining actual compensation for this position at the expected location. Actual compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, and other relevant business or organizational needs. Actual compensation may be otherwise adjusted if the position is filled outside of the intended geographic location.
