WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH
In this role you will report to the Packaging Development Manager as part of the Global Packaging Team. This role requires experience developing and managing cross-functional relationships with Development, PLM’s, Brand Packaging, External Vendors, and Factory teams as well as your counterparts on the Global Packaging and broader Costing team.
We are looking for someone who will deliver innovative packaging solutions at scale, ensuring they meet aesthetic, quality, and performance standards. The position requires a strong understanding of packaging development and the product creation process, with a focus on sustainability.
- 5+ years of related experience in in Packaging Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, experience or training
- Proven experience in developing and executing packaging strategies, with an understanding of packaging design, materials, sourcing, and functionality
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the capability to assess packaging performance, identify areas for improvement and implement effective solutions
- Demonstrated ability to drive innovation and stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies, including automation
- Proven track record in leading cross-functional teams and managing complex projects, while displaying strong leadership, organizational and communication skills
- Proficiency in packaging design software, such as Artios CAD and Illustrator, as well as Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON
You will be responsible for the development of Nike Packaging from concept to reporting. For Footwear, Apparel and/or Accessories.
- Partner with Product, Brand, and Sourcing to define and develop seasonal packaging structures and pack outs.
- Collaborate with packaging suppliers to test different types of packaging from inception to production
- Identify and mitigate risks of packaging failures through development to commercialization
- Create and maintain tools and manuals to manage and communicate work effectively, including development trackers and item matrices.
- Obsess storytelling and data equally, and share the “why” behind the work
- Embrace ambiguity and simplify complexity
