As an AI Platform Manager, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Own the enterprise AI platform roadmap—define reference architectures, technology standards, and migration paths that align with 3M’s business goals and cloud-first posture.
  • Engineer and operate the core platform stack (LLMs, infrastructure, Serverless orchestration, feature stores, vector DBs, model registries) to deliver high-availability, low-latency AI services at global scale.
  • Deploy scalable, full-stack applications and Agentic AI tools integrated seamlessly within existing enterprise systems.
  • Build and govern end-to-end MLOps / LLMOps pipelines with baked-in CI/CD, automated testing, drift-monitoring, lineage, and one-click rollback for quantitative models, LLMs, and agentic workflows.
  • Enforce platform guardrails for security, compliance, FinOps, and observability—own policies for data privacy, model governance, cost attribution, and reliability SLAs across all environments.
  • Lead cross-functional squads and external partners—mentor engineers, unblock product teams, and act as the escalation point for high-impact incidents and post-mortems.
  • Drive continuous platform innovation—evaluate emerging tooling, run proof-of-value pilots, and productionize the winners to keep the stack future-ready.
  • Establish best practices for AI orchestration, application development, and MLOps, promoting reliability and scalability.
  • Provide technical leadership and support cross-functional teams by troubleshooting complex issues and driving continuous innovation initiatives.

In this role, you will play a crucial part in driving the success of our Generative AI projects, leveraging your expertise and leadership skills to deliver innovative solutions and contribute to the advancement of AI technology.

  • Own and evolve the AI/ML DevSecOps backbone – design, implement, and continuously optimize CI/CD and IaC pipelines that deliver models, data services, and agentic workflows into production with zero-touch releases.
  • Integrate everything, break nothing – orchestrate cross-cloud APIs, event buses, and automation frameworks so data scientists ship features without waiting on ops tickets.
  • Integrate and coordinate various AI services and components using APIs, CI/CD pipelines, and automation frameworks.
  • Establish an end-to-end framework for model observability, infrastructure performance monitoring, and FinOps.
  • Research and evaluate new technologies and frameworks for MLOps and automation.

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or Engineering (completed and verified prior to start)
  • Five (5) years of experience in AI platform engineering/DevSecOps in a private, public, government or military environment
  • Two (2) years of experience in MLOps, automation, or DevOps using tools such as Docker, GitHub Actions, Kubernetes, Airflow, MLflow or other open-source technologies
  • Two (2) years of experience in Infrastructure as Code tools like Bicep, Cloud formation, Code build, and Terraform.

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution
  • Deep fluency in one hyperscale cloud (AWS or Azure) and working knowledge of the other—you can diagram Landing Zones, IAM, and VPC peering.
  • Experience with API Operations, API Gateways, RESTful APIs, message brokers, and event-driven architectures
  • Production-grade AI/ML toolkit mastery—TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, plus emerging LLMOps stacks (LangChain, Semantic Kernel) and vector databases (OpenSearch, Neptune, PgVector).
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Work location:

  • Hybrid Eligible (Job Duties allow for some remote work but require travel to Maplewood, MN at least 4 days per week)
