As a
Laboratory Technician,you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
- Preparing lab-scale samples of adhesive and specialty polymers
- Conducting a variety of polymer characterization tests
- Recording lab activities and observations in a laboratory notebook, tabulating and describing results
- Communicating test results to customer partners
- Developing and modifying existing test methods and/or equipment as needed
- Working closely with support personnel to ensure equipment is operating safely and efficiently
- Ensuring all regulatory and safety requirements are met
- Candidates may work with chemicals, powders, and adhesives in small scale processes as well as cleaning
- Other duties as assigned
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
- High school diploma/GED or higher (completed and verified prior to start)
- One (1) combined year of laboratory, manufacturing and/or pilot plant experience in a private, public, government or military environment
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
- Bachelor’s degree in a science discipline
- Five (5) years' experience handling chemicals and materials in a testing or laboratory environment
- Experience with adhesive test methods
- Intermediate computer knowledge
- Strong technical and/or mechanical background
- Self-starter with hands-on approach to problem solving
