Reporting to thetheResponsible for supplier development in a manufacturing or service process; works with suppliers to continuously improve performance, implement process controls and develop quality assurance plans.
What a typical day looks like:
- Evaluate and qualify new suppliers through audits and assessments.
- Monitor supplier performance (quality, delivery, responsiveness) using KPIs.
- Ensure suppliers comply with company standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements.
- Lead supplier corrective actions and root cause analysis (8D, 5 Why, Fishbone).
- Maintain and manage supplier scorecards and performance dashboards.
- Oversee quality of fabricated parts and assemblies (sheet metal and paint fab process, etc.).
- Review and approve fabrication process control plans, PFMEAs, and inspection documentation.
- Validate first article inspections (FAI) and production part approval process (PPAP) submissions.
- Ensure manufacturing processes are capable, stable, and meet required specifications (SPC,Cp/Cpk analysis).
- Define incoming inspection criteria and sampling plans (e.g., per ANSI/ASQ Z1.4).
- Support receiving inspection team on NCR (Non-Conformance Reports) disposition and MRB(Material Review Board).
- Implement effective containment, rework, and sorting processes for nonconforming parts.
- Maintain quality documentation (procedures, inspection reports, certificates).
- Support documentation of quality-related events for traceability and audit purposes.
- Prepare quality reports for management and participate in reviews.
- Work closely with Purchasing, Engineering, Production, and Logistics teams.
- Support Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and APQP during product development.
- Participate in supplier development initiatives to improve quality and delivery performance.
- Drive continuous improvement through Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to reduce cost of poor quality (CoPQ) from supplier and fabrication
The experience we’re looking to add to our team,
- Typically requires a Bachelor degree in related field.
- Typically requires 4 years of experience in engineering in the high technology electronics industry or related field.
- Use of the following tools may be required: Electronic Assembly: color code, component, schematics.
- Experience with preventive and corrective actions (CAPA).
- Problem solving and data analysis.
- Experience with quality tools
