Key job responsibilities
As a Senior Applied Scientist with the IRIS team, you will lead the development of novel algorithms and modeling techniques to advance the state of the art with multimodal systems. Your work will directly help our customers and will power unrivaled product discovery, inform customer buying decisions, offer a large selection, and position Amazon as the first stop for shopping online. You will leverage Amazon’s heterogeneous data sources and large-scale computing resources to accelerate development with multimodal Large Language Models (LLMs) and Generative Artificial Intelligence. You will be working with other Senior Scientists in the larger organization to leverage key research directions, adopting machine learning techniques to conduct rigorous experiments, publishing results, and ensuring that research is translated into practice. You will also participate in organizational planning, hiring, mentorship and leadership development. You will be technically fearless and with a passion for building scalable science and engineering solutions.A day in the life

- 3+ years of building machine learning models for business application experience
- PhD, or Master's degree and 6+ years of applied research experience
- Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language
- Experience with neural deep learning methods and machine learning

- Experience with modeling tools such as R, scikit-learn, Spark MLLib, MxNet, Tensorflow, numpy, scipy etc.
- Experience with large scale distributed systems such as Hadoop, Spark etc.
