The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As a Logistics Sourcing Specialist – USAC, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by leading USAC Domestic logistics RFPs within LTL, Rail, Parcel, freight audit and more.

  • Strategic Problem Solving: Utilize analytical thinking and Leverage market insights, data analytics, and supplier information to develop innovative solutions.
  • Sourcing Process Management: Lead USAC Domestic transportation RFPs, LTL, Rail, Parcel, freight audit categories
  • Contract Negotiation and Supplier Management: Negotiate sourcing contracts and build strategic relationships with key suppliers.
    • Develop a contract repository system and a methodology for tracking contract expirations. To ensure compliance with corporate sourcing policies and procedures.
    • Negotiate and renew contracts with warehouse suppliers that support plant operations.
  • Claims and Cost Management: Manage major claims against carriers. Drive and support the implementation of cost-saving programs and opportunities. Review LTL, Rail, parcel and freight audit to identify opportunities for savings. Track and manage costs associated with ground transportation modes.
  • RFI/RFP and Contract Standardization: Conduct RFIs and RFPs to identify the most suitable carriers.
  • Market Analysis and Process Improvement: Analyze market trends related to labor, energy prices, and warehouse costs to proactively engage suppliers for future sourcing decisions.

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or Supply Change management (completed and verified prior to start) and 5 years of transportation or Logistics sourcing experience in a private public, government or military environment.

or

  • Seven (7) years of transportation or Logistics sourcing experience in a private, public, government or military environment.

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Master’s degree in engineering or Supply Change management from an accredited institution
  • Ten (10) years of Transportation and Warehouse Sourcing in a private, public, government or military environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communications.
  • Strong program management and problem-solving skills and collaboration across teams, functions and organization.

Work location:

  • On-site (Job Duties require travel to Maplewood at least 4 days per week)
