Excellent communication skills required in order to negotiate internally, often at a senior level. Some external communication may be necessary. Full management responsibility of a team or multiple teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team or a functional area, while maintaining appropriate staffing requirements to meet operational needs; operate as a “player / coach”
  • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of the program / project and associated dependencies
  • Influences and negotiates with senior leaders (across functions); may communicate and coordinate with external parties i.e., third party vendors
  • Leads and directs a team of professionals,including management of people, to include performance evaluation, compensation, hiring, disciplinary actions/terminations and budget approval
  • Implement the organization’s strategic management of and compliance to Data Privacy for the enterprise to perform more accurately, efficiently, and productively, and better engage with internal and external stakeholders
  • Execute and champion a framework for governance of Data Privacy across the organization, including the operating and accountability model
  • Promote Privacy by Design and drive improvements into the mechanics of how teams incorporate compliance and privacy-by-design into operations and product life cycles
  • Execute enterprise-wide risk reduction metrics and reporting framework
  • Embed data privacy culture throughout the organization and role model the importance of data privacy governance across the Enterprise
  • Collaborate with Technology, Operations, Information Security, Risk management, Compliance and other organizations across Citi to develop and implement privacy solutions to ensure alignment between Citi’s Global Cyber Security and Privacy and Data protection practices and programs
  • Implement practices that comply with data protection and privacy regulations
  • Communicate the value of Data Privacy and its impact on the bank’s business to stakeholders
  • Deliver tools, trainings, templates, and other resources to be leveraged by the business to support data privacy compliance across the enterprise
  • Review business processes to ensure the best practices are followed around the handling and use of personal information
  • Lead execution of operational elements of risk mitigation plans for Impact Assessments
  • Preparation of clear, accurate and timely reports and escalations on privacy and data protection risks, risk mitigation measures and compliance activities
  • Support the investigation and remediation of privacy incidents

Qualifications:

  • ​10+ years of relevant experience in data governance, including 10+ years’ managerial experience
  • Deep knowledge of data privacy, along with an understanding of regulatory, compliance, risk management and financial management concerns including subject matter expertise in data privacy laws, rules, regulations, and industry standards
  • Sound judgement with the ability to take a leadership position on all Data Privacy issues within Citi on all Data Strategy and Transformation related issues
  • Communicates effectively, develops and delivers multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences; able to drive consensus, and influence relationships at all levels
  • Collaborates effectively by building partnerships and working well with others to meet shared objectives
  • Ability to gain confidence and trust of others through honesty, integrity and authenticity
  • Strong negotiation, influencing and stakeholder management skills across a variety of stakeholders at different levels
  • Optimizes work processes by balancing effective / efficient processes with a focus on continuous improvement. Demonstrates ability to balance between understanding the “big picture” while paying close attention to detail
  • Organizational savvy; understands systems, management processes, knows where to go for information and how to interpret them

Education

  • Bachelor's/University degree, Master's degree preferred
