Develop and support innovative and reliable live broadcast technological and operational workflows, coordinating with production, transmission, integration and Netflix live streaming pipeline teams and beyond to ensure production requirements are met for all of Netflix’s live programming.
Work remotely and on-site to design, build and support Netflix Live Ingest Points of Presence (LiPoPs), Remote Operator Pods (ROPs) and Broadcast Operations Centers (BOCs).
Act as the escalation point for live event technical issues, taking an active, hands-on role in supporting higher-profile live events remotely and onsite via ROPs and BOCs.
Monitor and manage cloud-based and hardware-based video infrastructure. Provide analysis and remediation of any issues in the video workflow.
Manage, build, and evolve ground ingest capabilities, including signal acquisition, inspection, validation, and standardization.
Identify opportunities for technical and operational efficiencies throughout the broadcast airchain, pursuing solutions from the discovery and project planning phases through to implementation.
Represent Netflix in broadly scoped live production-focused partnerships, maintaining productive relationships that will ensure the success of Netflix's live projects.
Be able to work with flexible hours based on the live events schedule.
Develop and maintain live system documentation.
Some travel will be required to support Netflix’s live technical systems and live events, including some weekends and holidays.
Qualifications
8+ years of experience in live Broadcast systems engineering, from support to system design and integration.
Deep expertise in broadcast workflow technology and concepts surrounding transmission and contribution feeds, routing, format validation and conversion, closed captioning, SCTE104/35, playout, record, storage, intercom, and monitoring, logging, and alerting strategies and solutions.
Experience with IP-based and virtualized workflows and modern broadcast core technologies such as ST-2110 and NMOS, PTP, JPEG-XS, UHD and HDR workflows, SRT, AVC/HEVC, and Zixi.
Advanced knowledge of networking fundamentals, ability to support, maintain & troubleshoot IP-based 2110 workflows and consult on network design.
Understanding of nuances of remote production and the on-site technical operation.
Ability to clearly and effectively communicate with end users, process and product owners, developers, systems engineers, technical and non-technical internal and external partners, and various levels of management including executives.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, concurrent multi-quarter projects from inception to the first day of business, including managing third-party vendors.

Networking and broadcast industry certifications (CompTIA Network+, Arista/Cisco technology, SBE certifications, AVIXA CTS, etc)
Expertise in AWS, command line operations (Linux/Windows), and open-source multimedia frameworks.
Experience with cloud-based infrastructure.
Experience with at least one programming language (Java, Go, Python).
Experience in Unix (or Unix-based systems), shell scripting, and good SQL knowledge.
Experience with web technologies and distributed systems with microservices architecture.
