Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.

1. Lead first line of defense risk management strategy and execution across the deposit's portfolio. Develop and maintain comprehensive assessment and monitoring programs across the deposits risk and control environment. Proactively identify emerging risks and drive effective mitigation strategies. Partner with second line risk functions to ensure alignment and effectiveness of control environment.
2. Drive execution of the issues management framework across the enterprise deposits and debit ecosystems. Oversee the identification, tracking, and resolution of regulatory and operational issues. Lead root cause analysis and implementation of sustainable solutions. Ensure timely escalation of significant issues to senior management and regulatory bodies. Serve as an advisor for wholesale in partnership with product delivery team to ensure thorough closure of risks identified.
3. Ensure fair treatment of customers across all products and services. Oversee complaint management resolution processes for deposits in partnership with Client Advocacy. Leverage complaints to identify and resolve risks/gaps. Responsible for timely and accurate completion of client redress.
4. Serve as point of contact for all risk management and governance activities, leading a team of risk management professionals responsible for executing business-led risk program requirements. Includes, but is not limited to: RCSA, process mapping, control identification, documentation, testing, key risk indicators, issues management, change risk assessments, third-party, and compliance.
5. Design and implement governance frameworks and control structures to deliver best-in-class risk execution. Ensure effective documentation of risks and mitigation activities in line with enterprise expectations.
6. Oversee policy and procedure development and maintenance. Partner with legal, compliance and additional stakeholders to identify regulatory change requirements and incorporate into policies, procedures, processes, and/or platforms.
7. Develop and maintain partnerships with key internal stakeholders inclusive of senior and executive leadership and regulatory examiners. Serve as subject matter expert on risk and governance matters. Foster a culture of risk awareness and proactive risk management across the Deposits organization.
8. Partner with the Governance and Controls Office (GCO), Branch Operations, Legal, Business Unit Chief Risk Officer (BUCRO), Compliance and Truist Audit Services, to set the strategic roadmap for risk management initiatives for Deposits, aligned to the overall business strategy.
9. Lead engagements with Corporate Compliance, Truist Audit Services, regulators and other stakeholders. Ensure team facilitates comprehensive and timely delivery of materials for quarterly regulatory meetings, ad hoc, and exam requests. Direct partnership with senior examiners from the FDIC, FRB, CFPB, etc.
10. Build and lead high-performing teams across risk management, controls testing, and issues management. Foster a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement
11. Ensure all Deposits leaders are aware and accountable to operate within Risk Appetite with adequate adherence and remediation to risk management policies and processes. Promote an internal risk culture that encourages self-identification, promoting various risk initiatives and supporting metrics, and the maturity of various aligned business and risk committees/councils.

1. Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or related field
2. 15+ years of relevant experience, including 5+ in risk management
3. 5+ years of management experience
4. Proven track record in risk management or similar governance roles across the three lines of defense
5. Strong understanding of banking regulations and risk management frameworks
6. Excellent leadership, consulting, and communication skills, including the ability to lead direct and indirect reports and influence senior and executive leaders
7. Excellent negotiation skills and highly collaborative planning ability, excellent diplomacy, tact, judgment, problem-solving and decision-making skills
8. Ability to think critically and strategically and drive change; capability of successfully managing multiple projects concurrently while balancing risk and business objectives


1. Master's degree in Business Administration, Risk Management, or related field
2. Professional risk management certification(s)
3. Regulatory experience or proven expertise managing regulatory examinations and relationships
