As a Technology Operational Risk Management Lead, you will need to have experience developing or supporting enterprise applications for a financial services firm and be eager to apply your knowledge in the oversight of a technology organization’s risk management activities. You will need to be adept at evaluating technology practices for operational challenges in addition to cybersecurity concerns and possess the ability to build strong relationships with key stakeholders in the technology organization and leverage the firm’s operational risk management framework to identify and communicate risks. You will need to be comfortable working with a wide range of stakeholders including senior management. You should be able to leverage experience in engineering, software development, and technology management in order to identify control design and/or execution deficiencies that may result in system disruption or security issues. You will need to be able to develop and execute an oversight plan, and also develop and maintain credible relationships with first line stakeholders across technology and controls organizations.

Job Responsibilities

  • Identify technology operational risks related to the root cause of production issues that disrupt technology services
  • Identify operational risks associated with large and/or impactful change activities
  • Identify thematic risk based off KRIs, KPIs and control performance metrics
  • Challenge first line control implementation and execution
  • Execute monitoring and testing activity to detect operational risks introduced throughout the technology lifecycle

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • 2+ years’ experience in one of the following areas: Cyber Security, Technology Controls, Technology Audit, or Technology Risk Management
  • 3+ years’ experience in an information technology delivery role in one or more the following areas: application development, quality assurance, technical project management, or systems administration
  • Undergraduate degree in any of the following: engineering, computer science, information systems, cyber security or related technical certifications / boot camp training
  • Strong understanding of application testing, quality control, change and release management
  • Experience with application development tools
  • Knowledge of Cloud Technology principles
  • Experience with incident management practices and the ITIL framework
  • Ability to work both independently and in teams
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Analytical skills with the ability to make decisions and/or plan next steps even with missing or imperfect data
