As an SDM, you will be responsible for leading a two pizza team. You will play a crucial role in shaping the technical direction of AWS services, fostering a culture of innovation, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, scalable software solutions that meet the needs of our global customer base.
Key job responsibilities
Team Leadership & Development:Technical Strategy & Architecture:
Collaborate with senior leadership to define and implement the technical vision and strategy for your area of responsibility. Ensure architectural decisions align with AWS’s long-term goals and scalability requirements.Project Execution & Delivery:
Cross-functional Collaboration:
Work closely with product management, operations, and other engineering teams to align technical initiatives with business goals and customer requirements.Process Optimization & Innovation:
Drive initiatives to improve engineering processes, tools, and methodologies. Implement best practices in software development and operations (DevOps) across your organization.Performance Management:
Risk Management: Identify technical risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure the reliability, security, and scalability of AWS services.

- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
- 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams

- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
