The Managed Scaling team within the Data Processing Services organization is responsible for building, operating and maintaining the public APIs, Control Plane infrastructure and scaling algorithms that provide tuning and the best price-performance when running analytics and ML workloads on top of EC2 and EKS compute. This includes all components related to ingesting, storing and analyzing telemetry required to perform cluster and application scaling decisions. This team is responsible for building features on top of existing AWS offerings such as EMR on top of EC2 and EKS clusters, particularly when it comes to running Apache Spark workloads.
Key job responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:
• Lead engineering teams to translate complex functional and technical requirements into detailed architecture and design
• Be a thought partner by collaborating with other AWS teams in delivering joint goals
• Deliver systems and features with a high note on security and quality
• Own the software development process end-to-end, including: working with engineers and product managers to develop requirements; designing, architecting, planning, implementing, and testing new systems and features; deploying, and operating the production EMR systems.Diverse Experiences

- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

- 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
